The Department of Rural Roads has given the Thai media an update on work on a road in the area of Nakhon Ratchasima that is hoped to ease pressure on traffic in and around the city on the Friendship Highway (Mitraphap).

Road widening is taking place on route 1120. It is going from two to four lanes in the area of Ban Khok Phai.

Rural roads chief Pathom Chaloeywaret said that in total a stretch of just under 6 kilometers is being widened.

In the first phase - now 47% complete - 355 million baht is being spent on widening the section from KM 0 to KM marker 4.2. This will be finished by June of next year. At present drainage work is taking place on this stretch.

The second phase is from KM 4.2 to just before KM 6. This stretch is costing 147 million baht and will be completed by July 2021.

I doubt just 6km would help unless the traffic volume is heavy only at this particular stretch.

How does an ant eat an elephant, a bite at a time!

The worse area I believe is around The Mall.A traffic jame every day around rush hours. If it rains then it will take even longer.
