Hilton (NYSE: HLT) announced the upcoming entry of its Hilton Garden Inn brand in Pattaya through a management agreement with Honour Hotel and Retail Co. Ltd. Hilton Garden Inn Pattaya City is expected to make its debut in 2022.

There is currently one hotel managed by Hilton in Pattaya, operating under its flagship Hilton brand. This is the second Hilton Garden Inn hotel in Thailand signed this year, following the announcement of the upcoming Hilton Garden Inn Bangkok in June.

Situated in North Pattaya, Hilton Garden Inn Pattaya City will be part of a mixed-use development featuring more than 2,000 square meters of commercial and retail space as well as an adjacent 427-unit residential tower.

Oh no... the harbingers of Pattaya's premature death and ignominious failure to become a world class family beach vacation resort are NOT going to like this at all.

Indeed.  First Grand Palazzo, then Mytt Hotel, then Brighton, then Grand Centre Point,  then the Amari second tower, then Ozo Hotel, then Grand Centre Point 2 announced, and now another Hilton.  Plus numerous new boutique hotels like Golden Tulip and LK Emerald Beach.  Don't they know Pattaya is Dead?

The Hilton Pattaya does pretty well

and he has more than 60\70 % occupation rate.

The explanation is pretty easy, the new middle class in China and India loves

to brag on social media, Hilton is a luxury international brand name and the

prices in Pattaya are relatively cheap compared to other places in the world for this class of hotel

so the customers can have their roleplay ''looks at me i am one of the happy few VIP'' style for an

affordable cost and they can fill their Facebook whatsapp and so on with the pictures of the dream.

The Holiday Inn near Naklua does pretty well also

again the brand name

and of course the promotions with attractives prices.

The others big hotels? It's more hard for them

but they can endure losses, at least during some years

As a member of the Priority Club hospitality group, I can attest to the high occupancy and generally higher room rates with fewer walk-in discounts at Holiday Inn. In addition, they have opened Holiday Inn Express off Buakhao with rack rates as low as 1400 baht/night for the lower budget traveler.

Your new middle class from China and India is the reason the Marriott at Royal Garden was rebranded Avani by the owners because the latter has a much bigger Indian and Asian subcontinent customer demographic and brand recognition than their predecessor.

"The Pattaya Marriott Resort & Spa was originally purchased by Minor back in 1978 when it operated as a Royal Garden Resort. This made it the company’s first ever hotel acquisition.

Thirty-eight years later, Minor Hotels has decided to reposition the property under its new Avani Hotels & Resorts brand. As a result, the new Avani Pattaya Resort & Spa will make its debut on 1 November 2016."

Meanwhile Marriott still has the lower budget Signature (originally opened as Best Western) bottom of Phra Tamnak and the 5-star Renaissance Resort south of the marina on Highway 3.
