Bakwan Posted December 14, 2019 Posted December 14, 2019 Hello Community, I tried to find Informations about a regular Transfer of Money from a Thai Bank to an european Bank. If I would live in Thailand, but still have to pay sometimes in Europe for a Service or something else - how would it Be done? Thanks for any Idea
dimitriv Posted December 14, 2019 Posted December 14, 2019 I think it is best to keep a European bank account. Especially for smaller amounts of money international bank transfers are expensive. 1

If I would live in Thailand, I have always used my Thai bank to send money to my UK bank. There is a company https://www.deemoney.com/ which I joined but have never used, there is members here that use it and find it a less expensive way.

PETERTHEEATER Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 Just ask your bank branch for an Outward Remittance Application form. Mo 1
Beggar Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 Try to keep an online banking account in your European home country. If you don't have a residence there anymore it is not always easy to open a new account from abroad. And it is possible to transfer money from Thailand to such an account - even through Thai banks directly. 1
Moti24 Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 I was researching the same myself not long ago. Western Union looks like a good bet; check it out at wu.com.
wgdanson Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 I have Foreign Currency Account with Bangkok Bank with over £24k in it, which I used for my retirement extension. I am going to use the combination method next year ie Bht 50k per month from UK and Bht 200k in a Fixed Rate Deposit Account, so I need to send around £16k back to UK. Bkk Bank says it is no problem.

Possible now only for certain countries - not US or UK for example. It was but they have had issues....... See last page of posts here - 1
pjuk Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 My bank (Kasikorn) tell me as long as the money has been transferred into Thailand electronically then no problem transferring back out. But if you brought cash into Thailand and paid it into a bank then no way to transfer out .
kevinmartyn Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 As long as its legal money and you name who its going too and what exactly it is for . I cannot see any issues!

There are amount limits when transfers need to be reported. But they are pretty high. I forgot the amount so please ask the Bangkok Bank if you are interested. And if an employee tells you garbage then better ask the manager.
freeman01 Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 (edited) the problem with the banks is the awful rate they give you, on top of the fees you lose a lot at the end. I would be surprise if the Thai banks behave differently in this regards. Edited December 16, 2019 by freeman01

BobinBKK Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 My bank (Bangkok Bank) refuses to set up my ability to transfer money back to my bank in America because I am on a retirement visa. They told me I have to request for them (the bank) to do it. This doesn't sound right to me because it's my money. What can I do?
Bakwan Posted December 16, 2019 Author Posted December 16, 2019 Thanks a lot for all your Postings Cheers
