TAKUA PA, Thailand (Reuters) - Fifteen years after the Indian Ocean tsunami killed more than 230,000 people on Boxing Day, 2004, a cargo container at a police station in southern Thailand bears witness to the hundreds of victims whose remains were never identified.

SET falls as capital exits amid looming political uncertainty

Many who had joined Saturday rally posted on their social media platforms that they did not like Thanathorn but could not tolerate the double standard practice of government institutions, signalling that many more may participate in political protests next year.

 

The Stock Exchange of Thailand Index fell 1.54 per cent or 24.17 points to close at 1,549.74 on Monday (December 16).

Tax reforms to take more time than expected but surprise on the way

The Ministry of Finance has indicated that plans to reform the income tax structure might not be completed by February as earlier scheduled but says a tax measure will be announced early in 2020 as a New Year’s gift to Thais.

Manhunt on for Thailand’s “Jack the Ripper” after fresh murder in Khon Kaen

A police manhunt is underway for Thailand’s “Jack the Ripper”, a serial killer previously convicted of 17 rapes, murders and robberies, who allegedly killed a hotel maid on December 15th in the north-eastern province of Khon Kaen. The suspect had been released from prison in May this year after serving 14 years.

Government denies it has increased taxes on feminine hygiene products

Scammers target Chim Chop Chai campaign participants

BANGKOK(NNT) - The government’s Chim Chop Chai campaign has entered its third phase where eligible persons can use the government’s wallet app to make payments and receive cashback rewards. The Comptroller General’s Department is warning the general public not to believe any person or website alleging they can help with the cashback receiving process as scammers have been found to be operating on this channel.
