Thai retailers to stop giving plastic bags from Jan 1

8 bags per person per day seems somewhat high unless they are also counting those small bags that the likes of 7-11 like to impose upon everyone.

Around 75 brands under the Thai Retailers Association will stop providing plastic bags from January 1

That will be interesting to see. I doubt it will work. A Thai without plastic bag is like a fish out of water.

I use the bags for dog poo. So what do I do now? fling it over to the neighbors yards?

I leave it and let the gardeners run it over with their lawnmower.

villa always claimed their bags are bio-degradable ...so why do they stop ?

MONEY

Isn't everything biodegradable .… isn't it a matter of 'how long'

p.s. Even humans are biodegradable ... ummm imagine if they were not ...

Makro been that way for years !!

Exactly! But if you have been using big c for all those years then you are bound to be a bit confused.

Just saying it’s would be better to post something at the entrance to warn people.

I am all in favour of getting rid of plastic bags, but I got this a short while ago.

Bless the Thais for trying, but they really need to give it some more thought...

On the 16. Dec. I was shopping in Plaza, where they had plastic bag free day. I was shocking the staff at the counter, because I had a used plastic bag with me.......!

When shopping at Makro, I come home with more plastic waste than any other shop. No carrier bags though!
