Hello, just purchased a Xiaomi S2 air purifier. The reading this morning was only 22. Seems very low, and was wondering if anyone had a reading in the San sai area. Only has a week's warranty, so would like to know if there is a sensor problem. Thank you

Given 25 is WHO limit for 24 hour exposure (if I remember correctly), 22 is not low. But yes, outside of course it's a lot higher than that.

If your windows and doors are sealing relatively well, the number on display should be in single digits or teens at most whenever outside AQI is below 200.

limit is for pm2.5 where AQI includes pm2.5 and many other things, aware of that, so above isn't technically accurate

the display reading on your xiaomi 2s is the pm2.5 µg/m3!!

pm2.5 µg/ m3 is NOT equal with the AQI (air quality index).

the pm2.5 reading on the desplay of 22 µm/m3 is equal with 71 AQI (yellow / moderate).

sorry, but on my own experiance that is not the case. even with a very good seal room,

the different will be very small to the outside pm2.5 pollution!

there are a few things which everyone should know:

- to stay inside in the house does not help or does not make a (healty) different.

- turn on the aircon does not help or does not make a (healty) different.

- an aircon with a M3/pm2.5 filter does reduce the poluttion, but just

in very smal numbers ... if the air is heavy polluted, only an air purifier helps!

- invest in a small pm2.5 meter, if you are concerned about the pm2.5 pollution.

check aqi.org/chiangmai and wait until screen fills in...you will see on the right-hand side a map of C/M with a multitude of measuring stations in and around C/M including Sansai area!  most stations at hospitals or schools update hourly, or every 3 hours and you can see a 24-hr reading for your location and even last year's readings

Thanks for the replies, should have done a bit more research on the numbers meaning, cheers motdaeng. Did find a online calculator at airnow.gov which converts and seem to be accurate enough.
