Dry air. Anyone bought a humidifier lately...?

Featured Replies

Wondering if anyone has bought a humidifier lately and where ?

Appreciate any info....Ta.

In 7+ years living in Thailand, I never needed to add humidity to my living accomodations...

That said, I did buy several humidifiers on Lazada for a mushroom growing project.  Stay away from the ultrasonic type, because they left a white film of dissolved solids on everything.  Seems the ultrasonic method of creating the vapor also evaporates the solids.  Stick with the heated types unless you want to pop for distilled water.

I don't claim to know the mechanism.  Just that I had a white film on everything in the room after a day or so of testing the units.

Your correct, need to use very clean water, I lived in North China we had to use humidifiers in the winter, you can get all sorts of infections if you use "dirty" water.

Yes, clean water should be used--it wasn't perfect, but we used the bottled water we got from our

weekly water delivery--it is RO water--not pefect, but good.  Despite many detailed searches, I discovered that the leading water delivery outfits in CM all use RO water.

We also purchased a humidifier that had a UV light inside, which further helped to "clean" the RO water before it was distributed.

You know sometimes, when you shop on Lazada, you will see the same thing for sale for two wildly differing prices?  Like one for ฿1000 and one for ฿6000?

I’ve been using the 5l Xiaomi Deerma ultrasonic humidifiers for a couple years now and never paid more than ฿700.

As as others have said, it is essential to use filtered water.  I originally had the chalky film on my mirrors and windows but now run the tap water through a Brita filter and no longer have that problem.  It is also important to thoroughly clean the unit with bleach and water at least once per week.

Are you sure you didn’t buy the Xiaomi air purifier for the price you quoted?  (I use one of those too)

Yeah my bad, sorry. Bought both and got them mixed up. So, hope the air purifier pro is good.
