Tv Cliches

Featured Replies

Oh, thought that was my claim to fame! That's the one I get all the time. There was one thread in General Topics about 3 weeks ago where one member said something mildly sexist. Another member quoted it with the line underneath "November Rain, Jet Gorgon, are you going to let him get away with that?" I nearly killed myself laughing. I was seriously tempted to quote the whole lot & just write "Yep!" underneath. :o

However, you did get a very vehement one in ladies forum a few days ago, I noticed. Fun guy he was. Think there were some real issues there...

Ah, I missed that thread. Where is it? Let me at him.

Saying graceless Fawn is a fella is a bit of a cliche, why do members do that? Is it because they don't believe that any woman that would get herself in so many scrapes would admit it, or is it that they think only a fella could come up with such 'accident' prone persona. It's one of TV lifes mysteries that will be repeated over and over, or at least until GF hangs up her boots and stays out of trouble. Don't hold your breath.

And <deleted> is ROTFLMAO? It's not going to change my life to know and really I don't care, but it normally indicates that the post I've just read wasn't really worth reading at all.

ROTFLMAO -= Rolling on the floor laughing my ass (or for those of us who are lucky enough to come from the Mother Country "arse") off.

OK, firstly I'm not one of those that thinks she's a bloke. I absolutely think she's a woman. Secondly, I don't mean any offence by what I'm going to say - it's just my take on the reasoning behind why some people persist in thinking that way.

I don't think it's anything to do with being accident prone. I think it's the way she presents herself. She comes across as very girly, very flirtatious & sometimes quite sexual. Most of us women on here don't do that. I would imagine that all of us with ambiguous niks (Jet, leisurely, MiG, me etc) have been thought of as a bloke by other blokes, on occasion, because of the way that we post. GF is thought of as a bloke posting as a woman; it's different. I think she might come across as trying too hard to prove she's a woman, if you understand that; OTT at being a woman, rather than natural.

Sorry, GF, what I've said was certainly not meant in a nasty way, at all. It's just the reason I think you get a lot of the flack you do... :o

Ya, shoulda let em all think I'm a guy; it's easier to make some comments without being labelled a man basher, feminazi as sbk said, or whatever. If the guys think you're a guy, they take words in stride. If they know you are a chick, they think your comments are fluff usually. I'm gonna find my cousin Igor and let him rip through the forum.

The way that people on Thai forums express laughter with "55555555555555" can get us in trouble.

The other day on a tech forum someone made a joke and unthinking, I responded with a long string of fives. Shortly after someone quoted it and replied "Dude, <deleted> do you mean when you do that?"

A search of my posts revealed that over the past year I'e done that eleven times on that forum and nobody said anything, they just thought I was insane. :D

I suppose I should explain it. :o

I'm assuming this wasn't a Thailand based tech forum? Ooopps! Embarrassing :D 5555555

5555. I taught a few non-Thai-link people the 555 in e-mails, etc. I just do it unconsciously. Once they get it and they know I am not pulling their leg, they love it. It is easier and I like it better than lol.

ROTFLMAO!!

555555555555555555555555555555555555

55555555555555555555555555555555555555

Actually, when i'm in the chat room and a newbie comes in, it is usually one of the first things I teach them.

I don't think I use 5555 on non thai related sites, but TbH, I haven't paid much attention. It's become second nature.

Well Jet, I don't have this problem much anymore as a smart poster will take a peek to the left, look at the title under my name and realize its not worth their while to begin abusing me.

But, there are enough stupid ones out there that need a good spanking and then figure it out afterwards :o

Anyway, annoying tv cliche:

People who've been here a couple of years and know everything. when, those of us who have been here forever, realize how little we do know :D

Or the very annoying "all thai men are bashers, cowards, abusers" crapola that some posters like to dish out.

But, I have to admit I find the "if you don't like it leave" people annoying too. Where am I supposed to go? I answered one guy, "I'll be sure and let my husband know that I am leaving him because some guy on ThaiVisa told me I shouldn't live here anymore" :D

But, there are enough stupid ones out there that need a good spanking and then figure it out afterwards :D

Ain't that the truth! :o

HOw about: " 'nuf said"

This is not just a tv cliche! Nuf said!

" To be sure, To be sure".

Kicked off by Mr Boj, propagated by Scouse and continued on a more regular basis by others on the forum.

It is not funny, it is not nice and it doesn't make you look big!!

Stop it, Stop it Now. :lol :o:

Good Luck

Moss

Another one, example...........

"Obtaining A Driving License For Use In Thailand"

Posted in two different sub-forums, same title, same content, roughly the same time.

It's especially annoying when the subject has already been discussed and a similar title is there for all to see in the pertinent sub-forum....... it's just lazyness, and I can't stand lazy people, especially on the net, a place where you can usually find out what you need to know without too much effort.

Like how there is a subforum for almost everything you could imagine yet people just stick their visa topics, travel topics, local issues, and everything else in "General"

Aww, C'mon Vic, I think you are being a little harsh here.

People join, particularly the visa guys, because they want a quick answer to the most important question of their lives at that time, in their world at that time, they know little of the forum as a whole and it is the job of the long termers and the MODS to re-direct when necessary.

Although I admit, I posted in the right section first time, because I did browse first, nevertheless, my philosophy is give the FNG's a break and a helping hand.

I am not knocking you here, just giving an alternative point of view.

Good Luck

Moss

And <deleted> is ROTFLMAO?

:D

me and a mate of mine went through a stage of communicating via text using abbreviations, not just the standard text abbreviations (<deleted>, tbh, lol etc) but full sentences abbreviated. the recipient had to work them out.

eg:

if he asked if i was going for a beer I might reply 'ICRBAAIPSTTYTT'.

'ICRBAAIPSTTYTT' - I Cant Really Be Arsed And Im Pretty Skint To Tell You The Truth.

we gave it a rest when we realised we were losers.

aaaanyway, TV cliches:

'pattaya is ideal for families'

:D:D:o

I tell you what I ######ing hate 'TIT' and then when the bastards put in as an explanation '(This is Thailand)', like we dont ######ing know where we are or what TIT stands for, ######ing <deleted>.

That Trink has a lot to answer for.

I did not know what TIT stanted for....

Definitely... I am stupid. :D ..today is not my day... :o

Well i don´t like the cliche: western women are all macho like, fat and frigid...thai woman are the best...i guest coming from a western woman this is also a cliche...or well i don´t know...

  • Author
D'ya wanna keep your philosophies and alternative points of view in the "alternative points of view thread" please Moss.

Nope!

Havn't seen it recently.

But as this thread has been taken off thread by more than one person, in its life, I didn't see anything wrong.

ODICBB

:o

:D

ODICBB?

Or Did I Collapse Before Bedtime? Perhaps?

Like how there is a subforum for almost everything you could imagine yet people just stick their visa topics, travel topics, local issues, and everything else in "General"

right...and this is usually a topic that has been widely discussed ad nauseam and could be easliy retrieved byuing the SEARCH function... :o

I would like to add however, as a newbie I didn't know about the search function! So let's be a little more gentle on the newbies! They might be the future stars of Bedlam...

I've said it before and I'll say it again. There is one poster here who drives me to pull my hair out. He has been on holiday here two or three times, each occasion it seems as a sex tourist. This individual postulates on anything to do with Pattaya and now claims to have a teerak and will be moving to Issan. As soon as I see his answer as the last one in a topic, I close the window and move on. I know it is irrational but can't help myself. Goodness knows what I will do when he arrives in Bedlam.

Happy Easter one and all from a very feminine Leisurley (who doesn't stretch the pages or copy all the text from the previous 23 posts!)

And as everything Thai has already been discussed here it would kill most discussion and turn the forum into a search engine.

Cliché?

The 501st post being in Bedlam and saying Hi?

Welcome to the Twiglet Zone :o
