Garbage Truck Fire Engulfs Vehicle in Chonburi
Picture from responders An incident occurred on August 30, when a garbage truck's brake system exploded, causing a fire to break out while the vehicle was in motion on the Chonburi-Ban Bueng Road. Fortunately, the quick-thinking driver was able to steer the vehicle to the side of the road and avoid any injuries occurred. The incident was reported to the Nong Ree Subdistrict Administrative Organisation's fire department in Chonburi. Firefighters rushed to the scene near the U-turn at kilometer 8 in Moo 2, Nong Sam Sak Subdistrict, Ban Bueng District, Chonburi Province. Upon arrival, firefighters found local residents using water and buckets to combat the fire, which had started in the truck's engine compartment. It took approximately 30 minutes for the firefighters to fully extinguish the blaze. The truck involved was identified as a pink-and-blue Hino garbage truck with the registration Chonburi. The engine compartment suffered significant damage due to the fire. According to Mr. Somkid Pothisamrit, 43, the driver of the truck, he was transporting garbage from Si Racha to a disposal site. About a kilometre from the destination, he heard an explosion and noticed smoke coming from the brake system, which rendered the brakes inoperative. Despite the heavy load, he managed to downshift gears and bring the truck to a safe stop on the roadside, all while flames and smoke engulfed the vehicle. Remarkably, he escaped without injury, though the truck sustained considerable damage. The local police are conducting further investigations to determine the exact cause of the fire. -- 2024-09-01 Get the ASEAN NOW daily NEWSLETTER - Click HERE to subscribe -

Police and Immigration Bust Chinese Call Centre Gang in Investment Fraud Scheme
Picture from the raid. In a significant operation on August 30, Chonburi Police, in collaboration with the Immigration Bureau, successfully dismantled a Chinese call centre gang that had been defrauding thousands of victims through an elaborate stock investment scam. The operation was led under the supervision of Pol. Lt. Gen. Itthiphol Itthisarnronnachai, Commissioner of the Immigration Bureau, along with key officials including Pol. Maj. Gen. Panthana Nuchanart, Deputy Commissioner, and other senior officers. Acting on intelligence, the team raided a luxurious residence in Pong Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi, covering over 4 rai of land. The raid resulted in the arrest of 15 Chinese nationals—14 men and one woman—along with the seizure of 18 computers and 90 mobile phones. The operation was executed under a search warrant numbered 258/2567. Investigations revealed that the suspects were part of a sophisticated scheme targeting Chinese nationals, luring them into fraudulent stock investments. The operation was divided into three main roles: 1. Initial Contact: The first group would cold-call potential victims, encouraging them to join a WeChat group where they were introduced to lucrative stock tips. 2. Investment Guidance: The victims were then added to a group on a new application called "Work Puls." Here, an administrator, who was also part of the criminal network, would provide daily stock investment advice, creating an illusion of legitimate financial guidance. The victims were further convinced to install an application that provided stock trading lessons, taught by members of the same criminal gang. 3. Execution of Fraud: After gaining the victims' trust by initially allowing them to earn small rewards (ranging from 20 to 100 yuan) through an Alipay account, the gang would then encourage larger investments, ultimately defrauding the victims of significant sums of money. Pol. Maj. Gen. Panthana Nuchanart revealed that the group had rented the property for 150,000 baht per month and had only been operational for three days before the raid. Initial checks have identified over a thousand victims, though the suspects claimed they had just established their operations. The total financial damage is still under investigation, but it is expected to run into billions of baht. The Chonburi Police and Immigration Bureau are continuing their investigations to uncover the full extent of the gang's activities and their potential links to other fraudulent operations. -- 2024-09-01 Get the ASEAN NOW daily NEWSLETTER - Click HERE to subscribe -

Gummies don’t work – so what can I try next .
Thanks @stoner. I’ve said a few words on the subject as an anti-hero, in an industry that I am a staunch advocate of in all ways except for lies. We are at an ‘event horizon’ with cannabis; research dollars are pouring in everyday, in both public and private partnerships. Soon enough we will understand all the pharmacokinetics of all the cannabinoids and secondary metabolites of cannabis. BUT until then… …The science does not support the internet/social media claims at present. The claims range from the sublime to the ridiculous, and I explain all the whys. I have written a few things on this forum, and have included a few links. If you want to go in further depth, look at my posts……or not. To address the post about CBD and Sleep, here is an extract from a similar post: ”Using CBD as a sleep aid is a “movement” magnified on social media. Because it has anti-anxiety effects it has been co-opted as a sleep aid and this is the furthest thing from the truth. It has more placebo inducing sleep effect than the CBD itself. It is NOT a sleep aid. The anti-anxiety effect only works in the presence of THC. CBD modulates all the effects of THC, not being able to bind to Endocannabinoid receptors on its own. ” Required strength CBD oil for a good night sleep CBD products don't ease pain and are potentially harmful, study finds Required strength CBD oil for a good night sleep cont.
