Another from 72.

Elton John - Have Mercy on the Criminal.

I loved all of Eltons early stuff but somehow if it was released as a single and became a hit i tended to skip it on the album, played to death i guess .

I feel like a bullet ( in the gun of Robert Ford ) (1975 )

I received this record to my seventh birthday from my uncle.

I was 16 when this was doing the rounds, had left school and was looking forward ( actually I wasn’t, I wanted to be a layabout ) to going to college.

A real catchy number ( in my 16 year old mind ???? ) spoilt by some bad miming and the lacklustre enthusiasm of the girls in this video, but brings back some great memories, was certainly played to death on the jukebox in my first pub ( Theatre Tavern, Bradford ) .

I must have been 14, listening some songs on the juke box, this one caught my fantasy.

Jefferson Starship  with Fast Buck Freddie off of their '75 Red Octopus LP.

Some nice guitar pickin' on a funky little tune.  Ambrosia performing Holding On To Yesterday live at the Capitol Theatre in Passaic, NJ on 4 Dec. '76.  Off of their self titled '75 debut.

Creedence Clearwater Revival with Keep on Chooglin' off of their '69 Bayou Country LP.

Mississippi John Hurt performing Stack O'Lee Blues (Stagger Lee) live.  The description says this number lay in the vaults for 30 years before being released in '93 so, doin' a few sums on mah fingers fer 'bout 10 minutes, I comes up with ~'63.

Savoy Brown with You Need Love from their '68 Getting To The Point LP.

Lynyrd Skynyrd with an awesome live version of Simple Man.  Date of the show unknown.

Spencer Davis Group performing I'm A Man live.  Again, date unknown.

Chicago Transit Authority's cover of I'm A Man off of their self-titled '69 debut.  CTA was the official name of the Chicago bus and elevated rail transport system.  They sued over the name and that's how their name got shortened to Chicago.  Never cared for them after their debut LP, which I thought excellent all around.

The Byrds with Welcome Back Home off of their '69 Untitled double LP.

Some of the finest Cajun fiddlin'.  Orange Blossom Special performed live by Doug Kershaw from the '77 PBS Fiddlers Three show.

If you liked that then you should enjoy . . .

The finale from the Fiddlers Three show. It featured three great fiddlers (violinists) with different styles. Jean Luc Ponty (fusion jazz), Itzhak Perlman (classical), and Doug Kershaw (cajun).

And if you didn't like it, skip to the next tune.

Jean-Luc Ponty with the title track of his '78 LP, Cosmic Messenger.

One of my favourite reggae tunes, Third World with Now That We Found Love off of their '78 Journey To Addis LP.  The percussion section is awesome.

I can't play that chune without it's compliment, Try Jah Love off Third World"s '82 You've Got The Power LP.  I can never make up my mind which I like better.

Bob Marley And The Wailers with Don't Rock My Boat off of their '71 Soul Revolution Part II LP.  Don't bogart that the spliff, brother.

Peter Tosh with Igziabeher (Let Jah Be Praised) off of his '75 Legalize It LP.

That was soooooooo good it deserves an encore.  Till Your Well Runs Dry off of the same '76 Legalize It LP.

Back to the beginning.  Paul Kantner and Jefferson Starship with Starship off of the '70 Blows Against The Empire concept LP.

Humble Pie performing I Don't Need No Doctor live off of their '71 Rockin' The Fillmore double LP.
