First action would be to ban the growing of rice. That would save a huge amount of water. Then ban Songkhran, spraying water into the air and watering the garden.   Bet they come up with more ridiculous ideas !

Or they can start growing rice without being flooded in 20cm water, there's no need for that. Rice also grows in soil.

But better would be to grow wheat or another crop, uses less water and is more healthy so they all can produce real turds instead of cow apartments.

the centre will be headed by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and was the brainchild of the National Water Resources Committee (NWRC), in anticipation of water shortages

GENIUS!

NWRC passes responsibility for any failure to PM Prayut knowing that Prayut would take credit for any success whether or not he headed to committee.

The command centre will be divided into working groups, tasked with water management, water forecasting, early warning systems and public relations.

Which precludes hydrology professionals, scientists and engineers who could actually formulate practical solutions. But they wouldn't be loyal to any political goals and ultimately might embarrass the administration; whereas the other groups can be politically loyal in their decision-making processes that would personally benefit Prayut.

Roll on Songkran..  That of course wont be cancelled or cut short to save water...

Thai,s would not even think about that...

last year already had similar water shortages and Songkran took place... they don't think that far

At their meeting on Tuesday, the cabinet is expected to approve the establishment of a command centre and associated budget to tackle drought.

One of the prominent cabinet ministers suggested upping ice production as a means of tackling any possible drought......:clap2:
