Flights booked (Air Asia) for early March to HCMC - final cost was 7100 return for 2 people including a 20kg bag for 1 both ways. I could have got it a little cheaper but I picked times that suit me.

I could do with a little more information if anyone knows this:

The consulate website states that copies of the Thai wife's Tabien Baan and ID Card should be certified. Reports on TV just say that these documents need to be signed by your wife - no problem with that but does anyone know what is actually meant by certified? If <deleted> happens, it happens to me so if, to the letter of the law, they actually want a letter from the Amphur stating the documents are genuine, I'd rather get that done - the wife (almost) has to visit her local Amphur anyway so getting a letter shouldn't be a problem.

Another item is the 'Guarantee' from your wife. People state that what is required is a letter from your wife requesting they accept your application and issue a visa. That doesn't guarantee anything - is this just a translation issue?

Vientiane will not issue a multiple entry non-o visa. Only Savannakhet will issue one. Ignore the visa requirements on the Vientiane appointment website is the best advice I can give. E

If you want to minimise trip duration, flying early morning to Ho Chi Minh City, getting your visa there, and returning late afternoon of day 2 is probably your best bet.

I kept my Us address as I hit done research before moving to Thailand and realized that it was the smartest thing to do. Us social security has my Us address and because of this I don't have to deal with the are you still alive letter that many have to send back every year to confirm you're still above ground. I I'm lucky that my son lives in Las Vegas and he is a junior so both our names are the same. I've been doing this for almost 25 years without a single issue.
