Joaquin Phoenix vows to wear the same Stella McCartney suit throughout award season to help 'Reduce Waste'

Joaquin Phoenix has vowed to wear the same suit to every awards show this year to help reduce waste.

On Sunday, the Joker star attended the Golden Globe Awards wearing a custom-made tuxedo by Stella McCartney – a British designer who has been a leading voice in sustainable fashion since launching her brand in 2001, working with vegan animal skins and encouraging collaborators such as Adidas to create fabrics using recyclable materials.

Phoenix, who won a Golden Globe for his role in the comic book movie, chose to use his appearance at the ceremony to make a point about fashion’s role in climate change by not only opting for a sustainably conscious label but by getting multiple wears out of the same outfit.

On Monday, McCartney revealed that the actor plans to wear the same suit to every single Hollywood awards show this season.

A millionaire is making a difference by not buying/renting a rich man's suit for each award evening ??

These Hollyweird people just have no idea - no idea at all.

Donate money to a good cause Joaquin - start a Foundation - whatever.

Im just going to go naked, but for a strategically located dried Gourd.

1. Creates income for traditional indigenous gourd codpiece makers who use natural materials.

2. Saves CO2 and Pollution caused by the fabric industry.

3. No need to use a washing machine.

I will of course lose the fashionable aspects of clothing. Beyond my decorations on my Gourd (I like Rhinestones) I can solve that problem by decorating my fleshcanvas with biodegradable paints to suit my moods.I usually like a large spangled arrow drawn on my chest pointing down so it draws your eyes to my Rhinestone encrusted Gourd. This outfit is pulled together with an ecofriendly fore and aft hat made from bananana leaves and bast platform sandals. Im well suited then for everyday wear or even a meeting at a UN Climate conference.

Yo Joaquin dude, thats how ya do it bitch.

There is serious competition in the world of virtue signalling. He is not even on the scoreboard. I think his effort is acceptable for someone known as the Joker though.

To be fair, he didn't announce this. Stella McCartney should be getting the flak instead for making a big deal of the entire "man wears same suit for 5 events" debacle.

There is a presumption that he will be invited to buy a seat or a table

They rarely buy their outfits, they are generally loaned to them by the designers or by the studios wardrobe dept

WT#  are vegan animal skins.

Pleather, made from petrochemicals, great for the environment, melt if close to a naked flame or they are impregnated with chemical fire retardants

Ever seen this guy interviewed?  He’s a trip.  I’m betting that if he said the comment, it was his own tongue in cheek style of trolling.
