I received some valuable information in another thread when I was considering Vientiane/Savannakhet for a 12 Month Multi Entry Non O Based on Marriage which lead me to the conclusion that in fact, Ho Chi Minh City works better for me - logistically.

 

However, I could do with a little more information as I don't want to get turned down for a simple documentation issue.

 

The consulate website states that copies of the Thai wife's Tabien Baan and ID Card should be 'certified'. Reports on TV just say that these documents need to be signed by your wife - no problem with that but does anyone know what is actually meant by certified?  If <deleted> happens, it happens to me so if, to the letter of the law, they actually want a letter from the Amphur stating the documents are genuine or something like that, I'd rather get that done - the wife (almost) has to visit her local Amphur anyway so getting a letter shouldn't be a problem.

 

Another item is the 'Guarantee' from your wife. Members here state that what is required is a letter from your wife requesting they accept your application and issue a visa. That doesn't guarantee anything - is this just a translation issue?

Certified means signed by your wife. That is all that is required. That has been confirmed by many people that applied for a visa there.

Just a bad translation. It is just simple letter from your wife requesting the visa be issued to you.

They just want a hand letter written in Thai and signed by your wife along the lines.

"Please give my husband a one year VISA to stay with me, signed your wife, phone number xxx-xxx-xxxx"

 

Consulate is not very busy, I took this photo outside earlier this month at 8:15 am, gate opens at 8:30 and there were 6 people there when it opened.

Consulate wants to see if your wife gives you permission to stay in Thailand. 

Every year you will need your wife's 'Guarantee'
