So doesn't sound like the inquiry officer was trying to get you to confess or the prosecutor scare mongering you. And you are lucky that it was downgraded as a really serious thing, but the catch is you have to have a doctors cert and it has to be from an authorized dealer. Not from the street type. I wouldn't worry so much. 3

ChipButty Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 Some people might think it's strange getting searched which is unusual, I have lived here a long time and I know what goes on the dealer will have his contacts also you maybe got setup. Bye the way I have been stopped but never searched only looked through the boot of my car once I was aware they could plant something in there 2

Don't you know a Thai person who could talk to them on your behalf? Nobody here can tell you how the story will end, but you should be aware that all has changed in a very negative way. I recall a guy who worked here as a teacher who got caught with a few grams, but he only paid 5, or 7 K and the problem was gone. You should have tried to pay a lower fine when you got arrested, it's quite obvious that the seller was either a cop, or working for them. That happens every day. Now all you can do is to show that you've understood that you made a huge mistake. When you go to court, be well dressed, shaved, never speak loud and tell them the truth and say sorry. ( The right Wai!) A few years ago, such things were never a reason for deportation, but in a country where people get arrested for a one day overstay, I'd think twice what would be if...............................??? Use the time now and discuss your situation with the lawyer, promise him to give him a few baht more if he can help you. Try to find out through your lawyer if there's a chance that they could deport you. Mention that you're a sportsman and you have never taken any drugs in your life before. Tell them that you were drunk and you never wanted to break any laws in this country. Show remorse and they might let you get away with even less money to pay. Best of luck! 3 1

Stay calm now and use your intelligence. It's now out of the cops' hands once a judge has to make a decision. Cops usually let you go right after paying the right amount. 10 K might have been enough, but that's too late now. Show the judge that you're not a drug addict who does illegal things. Being well dressed and well mannered is very important for you. Tell the judge "Kothoot maak maak, khrap." ( I'm very sorry.) Tell them that you will never do anything against Thai laws again and tell them how much you love their country. Then you might be okay to get away with a slap on the wrist. Lawyers and judges usually discuss the case before court day, so your lawyer should be aware what can/could/will happen. If they deport you, they'll keep you in a police, or prison cell until you're gone and keep your passport Do all to avoid that, because then your chances to come back to Thailand would be very slim. Now use your brain and don't forget, you didn't kill somebody else, or similar. Pot is now a substance considered harmless, a cannabis clinic is right in the middle of our local government hospital. Stay calm and enjoy your stay once the case is over. Cheers. 7 1
Popular Post holy cow cm Posted January 24, 2020 Popular Post Posted January 24, 2020 Why don't you ask the lawyer what the norm is nowadays. I am sure there are more than just you who got caught. 15k for bail is not a big deal, you didn't try to run, but then again you did not do the pay off to get out free. Just dress nice having shirt tucked in with long pants and shoes, be really polite when in court, say I am very sorry, give a Thai Wai, and then be really quiet. But at least go talk to your lawyer. I am surprised he or she did not say anything, but it is really up to the inquiry officer to tell the prosecutor what to go for. And then up to the judge and that probably not a big thing.. 3 1

With a conviction if it's notified to the Greek Embassy, and a jail term will be, I would guess that's the end of that career. 1 1 6

It's a small fine and an agreement to routine drug testing for 6 months (if you're still in Thailand). If you fail another drugs test, you get sent to rehab for 3-6 months. Bail is normally set higher than the fine, so you get a refund. 15k bail will likely mean a 5-10k fine. That's all there is to it. They don't even deport you. 4

gamesgplayemail Posted January 25, 2020 Posted January 25, 2020 Don't worry, you will just get a cheap fine. But you should have been smarter and accepted to pay the cops less. 20000 could have done it. Look, how much are you paying now since you have to stay in Thailand to wait for court ? you have been wrong but don't worry anyway, you will be free and deported )be ready to pay for your plane ticket). Next time smoke it on the beach but don't carry it anywhere, this is what I have been safely doing for 15 years ❤️ 1
