PM not happy with proposed freeze of VOA for Chinese tourists

Featured Replies

If there is a breakout on the scale that is in China, then the Thai people are in for a rough time.

The Thai government simply doesn't and hasn't put the resources in place to cope with something like this. You won't see any hospitals being built in a week in Bangkok.

Secondly, on a economic point - if there is a large scale outbreak in Thailand, then it's going to hurt tourism no matter what. Surely the better solution would be to limit the outbreak, by temporarily halting Chinese arrivals till the virus was a little more controlled, and further conclusions. If there a large scale outbreak in Thailand, even Chinese tourists won't come ! Furthermore, by going all in bed with China on tourism, they are going to put other nations off from visiting.

Sounds like he would be happy to change Visa On Arrival to Virus On Arrival?

  • If only Thailand hadn't spent the last two to three years discouraging multiple visits per year from Europeans then they could have relied on Euro tourism but that's definitely in terminal decline the

It's crazy to see how they can be nationalist on some occasions and be completly the opposite when national health matters.

Yes cutting Chinese tourism for a while will cost a lot and might leads to a recession but it is better than detroying all the tourism sector and the national economy in case the virus starts to affect Thai people.

On a positive note, that stupidity is making the baht weaker.

warning or threat ?

what will he do bring back a military junta should his dummy not be placed back in his gob !

The prime minister emphasised that the committee should consider this matter carefully because China had prohibited its nationals from traveling abroad

do you get it? china itself had prohibited it's nationals (not citizens?) from

traveling abroad, and rightly so, and the prime minister is asking the committee not to make things even harder...on the tourist industry...because the tourist industry is allready suffering...from china's restriction

on chinese traveling...WHAAAT? i know thailand has an ongoing IQ crisis, but can't they think what will

happan if and when the virus will break out in thaiand, god forbids?

can't they even try to imagin, that with few thousand cases of the virus in thailand,

there will not be any more tourism industry, and maybe even no more thailand?

that is not true. the official number of cases in thailand , until 2 days ago, is just 19.

Italy has more than 200 so far.

in this time and age, it really does not mattar if a country is near china.

what mattars are other things like the efficiency of the health authorities, number of people

who came from the infected area, and just luck.

where do you get this information from?

thai cases are so far between 20 and 30, according to new york times and other reliable

sources.

if you have any news - share the link here. otherwise, shut your mouth !

If this has come out of China, think how bad it really is.........

A major Chinese official said China urgently needs medical masks to slow the spread of coronavirus. This comes as the death toll rises above that of the deadly SARS virus.

How about the death rate?

Too early to say. Most people quote ~2% but ignore those who are still in ICU that may or may not recover or those who did not need to go to the hospital.

The result of this will be that Thailand joins China in the total travel ban area imposed by other nations, as it's unwilling to contain the virus, and tourism will be 100% decimated for years to come. Complete knucklehead.

Take a look what happened to Europe with the refugee crisis. Guess where the Chinese will be trying to flee to when all others have blocked entry?

His a loser and destroyed the country. One old man and so much carnage.

A few ways ways to look at %.

How many die compared to total infected.

How many die compared to how many cured.

How many died who had serious health problems compared to those who were fit and healthy before being infected.

How many died at home because they couldn't get to hospital and treatment compared to those who could and did.

Depending on what side you're on you can spin the figures to suit your point.

You can compare to SARS and MERS etc.

Pick your own.

Edit.

Let's just say that people will concentrate on the negative and believe it before they will consider the positive.
