Thai Immigration Police has been closely coordinating with the Cambodian government regarding the “Westerdam” cruise ship docking at Sihanoukville, Cambodia on Thursday (February 13), Pol Maj-General Archayon Kraithong, commander of Immigration Police Division 3, said.

Thailand had refused to let the ship dock at Laem Chabang Port in Chonburi because of concerns over the new coronavirus (Covid-19).

“As of 10am, the ship was still in the waters, while local medical staff have entered the ship to check and screen passengers and crews if there are any infections,” he said. “Once the screening process is complete, the ship's passengers and crews will be processed by Cambodian authorities according to immigration regulations.”

Archayon added that passengers and crews who had passed the screening and immigration process should be allowed to travel to other countries, including Thailand, in order to catch a flight to their home countries.

“We have requested the Cambodian government to submit the list of any passengers who want to enter Thailand as well as their health examination results,” he said.

“We have also deployed medical staffs from the Ministry of Public Health at all border checkpoints connecting with Cambodia to screen passengers from Westerdam again before they enter Thailand.”

“I would like to insist that the screening process and staff at all border checkpoints are at 100 per cent readiness, so Thai people can rest assured that no infected persons could slip through,” he added.

Preparations are under way to evacuate 21 Thai citizens on board Holland America’s MS Westerdam cruise ship and to provide necessary supplies to the ship, once there is a greenlight…

Are there infected persons on the Westerdam?

Also i don't understand why the westerdam came to thailand and claimed they had permission to dock...who gave them the permission or did they make that up?

The ship that docked in Japan jumped up Japan second on the list of most corona virus cases.....

Is this a good idea?

Sent it back to Holland let them deal with it.

Why to Holland? What do they have to do with it?

Diamond Princess is a British cruise ship owned and operated by Princess Cruises.

WTH?? You could have just done that back when they wanted to pass to Don Mueang?

Why not do what Cambodia is now doing if your going that way anyway??

Best place for it... considering China took over the place long ago!

The wife has a niece onboard as crew. Seems happy to stay. Still... reports are that 20 are sick and are being tested for the virus. Hope it's not like the Diamond Princess.

Sounds like the reference below is to the 20 sick people onboard you're mentioning...

Holland America confirmed the disembarkation would begin on Friday but said the process would take a few days.

"The Cambodian Health Ministry has announced that the 20 samples taken onboard Westerdam have all been confirmed as negative for coronavirus by the Pasteur Laboratory in Cambodia's capital, Phnom Penh. As stated in previous communications, there were never any suspected cases of coronavirus on board," Holland America Line said in a statement provided by public relations director Erik Elvejord.

Still, it needs to be noted that people who actually have the CV can in the early stages come back with negative test results that only later become positive when the virus symptoms worsen...  No way to know if the Cambodian authorities are taking that into consideration... Probably not.

Out of an abundance of caution, 20 guests and crew who visited the medical center during this cruise were screened for coronavirus. All results came back negative from the Pasteur Laboratory in Phnom Penh and the results were announced by the Cambodian Health Ministry today.

I can't follow all them cruiseships nonstop.

What does holland has to do with the diamond princess?

seconding the suggestion earlier made by @Gweiloman: try to keep up !

Also, agree with @JulesMad that Holland has got nothing to do with it (and neither has Phayao province.)
The vessel under discussion in this thread flies a Dutch Flag.

Yes...you keep a close watch for the people, going on land in Cambodia.

Opposite to having a close watch in YOUR OWN COUNTRY!

What a bunch of absolute tools!

In Russia people would say: "Why? The girls are cheaper there."
