Israeli fire kills Palestinian trying to plant bomb at Gaza border - Israeli military

GAZA (Reuters) - Israeli forces killed a Palestinian trying to plant explosives near Israel's border security fence with the Gaza Strip on Sunday, the Israeli military said.

 

The Palestinian militant group Islamic Jihad said the man was one of its members, but it did not disclose what he was doing in the area.

 

In a statement, the Israeli military said soldiers opened fire at two Palestinians placing an explosive device next to the fence in the Hamas Islamist-run enclave.

 

It said one of the men was killed and a military bulldozer removed his body.

 

Witnesses and health officials said two other Palestinians were wounded by Israeli gunfire directed at a group of people who had approached the area and tried to recover the body.

 

Video footage shot by a Gaza photographer and posted on social media showed what appeared to be a lifeless figure dangling from the mechanical arm of the bulldozer, which was escorted by an Israeli tank.

 

The images caused an uproar in Gaza, with many on social media calling for retaliation. The Palestinian Foreign Ministry condemned "the brutal abuse of the body and its abduction".

 

Later in the day, the militant group Islamic Jihad fired a barrage of rockets from Gaza into Israel, setting off sirens and sending residents of southern Israel running for shelters. Some of the rocket fire was intercepted by missile defences and there were no reports of any Israelis injured.

 

Israel's military then said it carried out strikes against Islamic Jihad targets, including a rocket-launching squad. Four people were wounded, according to officials in Gaza.

In 1971 as student I visited these territories. Was with Israeli's at a Palestine wedding and with Palestines at an Israeli wedding. With an Israëli "chicken dockter" to help a Palestinian donkey in labour. Lasted more as a day to return, as.. we had to join the celebration.  Border ? ? Just some fences with more holes in as an Emmenthaler cheese, no more.

In 1982 as buyer I visited some factories at the West bank, saw MANY ( hundreds of thousands) Palestinians from the West bank and Gaza working in Israel, but... Hamas and others wanted to KILL, KILL and KILL Israëli's,  so.. now their jobs are taken by Philippino's, Vietnamese and Thai.

All of which constitute a war crime!

While you and your kind bemoan the fate of the "poor plantains" move the beam between your eyes and look at Syria if only for a moment and see the carnage, the genocide and the systematic obliteration of millions of Syrian and Kurds by Russia, Turkey and Syrian forces, where indictment carpet bombing of town and cites are everyday occurrence and millions are displaced and destitute, but of course, this will be 'deflecting the issues' you'd say, but while the so called 'plight of the Palestinians' bother you and others so much, i don't see you utter a word when it comes to Russia and Turkey engaging in atrocities, begs the question: are you blind and deaf or you and your ilk just don't care?...

If you have even bothered to watch the appalling video clip you will see two men shot on the Gaza side of the fence. Other Palestinians went to render first aid..the IDF shot them too...that is a war crime itself. 

 

The IDF then waited for two hours for the man to slowly die preventing any further assistance. Then they crossed over to the Gaza side of the fence to mutilate the body with a bulldozer.

 

Your concern for Israeli soldiers' safety is baloney! Why bother crossing the fence at all? Why not simply follow the Geneva Convention and allow the Red Crescent or others to render assistance to injured combatants if that's what the IDF claims.

NOT genocide that was what the Jews suffered in Germany, not a few hundred terrorists killed over the years. These idiots could have had their Palestine in the 30's with the Jew restricted to just 20% of the area- they said NO. They said NO in 1948 and twice since. Well ethnic cleansing, but they also deny there's any any of that going on. Some even deny the acts of mass killing, saying Deir Yassin was 'debunked'. Even individual deaths, American activist Rachel Corrie was run over and killed by a bulldozer 'accidentally', etc.
