webfact
Air pollution closes all municipal schools Wednesday until Friday All schools under the supervision of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) have been ordered closed from tomorrow (Wednesday) until Friday, as air quality in the capital worsened today and the situation is likely to persist due to poor air circulation and accumulation of PM2.5 dust in the atmosphere. City Hall spokesman Pongsakorn Kwanmuang said today that the city administration will ask high-rise and the electric train construction sites to suspend operations until Friday. Police have been asked to prevent trucks with six wheels or more from accessing the Ratchadapisek ring road from midday until midnight on Thursday and to set up roadblocks to check vehicle exhaust emissions. Popular Post graemeaylward
Do children and staff not breathe the polluted air when they are at home, probably out playing? Stop the causes of pollution not prevent children from learning about it! 8 1

"It's the sugar cane burning, stupid" It's worse in Chiang Mai this morning, btw (165 v 145 BKK) 3

Popular Post Jimbo2014
This is an absolutely appalling disgrace and shame on a supposedly upper middle income country. Thailand has endangered the health and safety of its citizens and a multi billion dollar tourist industry in exchange for a discount on sugar cane which benefits a few fat cats in and outside government. To harm your children just to save a few baht! You reap what you sow!

webfact
Bangkok schools closed to avoid PM2.5 By THE NATION Several schools in Bangkok area were ordered to remain closed on February 26-27 by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) to avoid air pollution that could affect commuting students and parents. The Thailand Meteorological Department has forecast that from February 26-28 weak winds and lack of rains in Bangkok and its perimeter areas will worsen dust pollution, especially particulate matter less than 2.5 microns in diameter (PM2.5). Going out on a limb, someone is scared of more than just the PM 2.5, maybe it has something to do with an 8 year old with COVID 19, but then I may be entirely off base.
Wookie
Bought an air purifier for the house today at HomePro. What a difference ! After only 30 minutes it brought the air quality of all particles in the house to the bottom end of the safe green zone. Strongly recommend to buy one if you want to breathe healthy air !

They close the schools in BKK and 200km south where it's presently 168 AQI PM 2.5 they have the children out running around the track!
