Featured Replies

Hello. I have  question about registred marriage. My girlfriend house book adress in Saraburi. And if we want registred marriage we should go exactly in Saraburi or can do in every province where we stay right now ?

You can get married at any amphur in Thailand. Choose one where they know how to process the marriage of a foreigner.

The first step is to go to your Embassy or Consulate to sign a Affidavit of Marriage have you done so? Next, that must be translated to Thai and submitted to the Department of Foreign Affairs for registration have you done this? My Affidavit issued by my Embassy was valid for only 30 days meaning I had to have it translated, submitted to D.F.A., and married at a Amphur all within 30 days. Yes, one can be married at any Amphur but all Amphurs are not the same. Some have waiting times ( queue ) some for 6 weeks while others require the witnesses to be from the Amphur area. In my case time was running out to find a Amphur so I chose the Visa Agent route who for a fee of B4500 avoided all wait times, drove me to and from the Amphur and provided the 2 witnesses.
