Adding Middle Name To Thai Passport?

Featured Replies

Hi all:

I have just got the US citizenship. In the process, I request to add a middle to my legal name (my first and last name remain the same). Do I have to add my middle name legally for all my Thai documents? Would there be any problems, if I don't? I'm just worried when they check my name before getting on the plane. What if I don't have my middle name in my Thai passport?

I can tell you for a fact that your name on Thai documents must be exactly the same as it appears on your passport.

I think you do not have to worry about your middle name. Your other major documents during the visa processing should coincide to your identity, with or without the middle name. The fact that they have approved your visa, your passport has gone through scrutiny and careful checking. To make sure, bring necessary papers. Ive been to US not too long ago, with a B1/B2 visa, and so far, no problem.

They wont even ask for your documents when you get to the immigration officers.

My last name in my Thai passport and US passport aren't even the same. My Thai last name is 17 letters long, in the US, I legally only use the first 6 letters for easier pronunciation (for doing business). Fewer perplexed eyebrows when someone has to say my name as well. :o

No issues travelling, ever.

:D

my thai passport includes my middle Thai name - samran.

my Aussie one doesn't.

As with Heng, never a problem.

Thank you everybody for your replies.

Heng: So when you buy the air ticket which name do you use and which passport do you use to enter and leave thailand?

eyrek,

If it's a ticket purchased stateside, I use my US name. Thai side, which I do more often since I'm based here most of the time, I use my Thai name. Thai passport to enter and leave Thailand. US passport to enter and leave the US and anywhere else where my Thai passport would otherwise need a visa. It's not an issue since both are completely legal. It's not like some kind of Bourne Identity type thing where I have multiple passports with completely different identities or something.
