Our french friends will know this already but for everyone else I just want to share the good news that one of Thailand's national treasures, L'Opera bakery, perhaps the finest purveyor of French bread and patisserie products in the country, is once again open to customers.

The bakery was closed for a  while due to a very unfortunate and serious accident to one of the key people and everyone at L'Opera was. and still is, going through a very hard time.

Despite this, Christoph and his staff get up at 6.30 am to ensure there are world class baguette bread and patisserie products available in this corner of the world early in the morning (and not at 1 pm like at some of the Japanse bakeries in the malls)

They may not answer on Facebook or by telephone but that is because they are working hard and I can assure you they are open for business.

Please support L'Opera at this very difficult time.

Sridonchai Rd, Chang Khlan Sub-district, Mueang Chiang Mai District, Chiang Mai 50100

I have nothing to do with the owners and the business but can assure they produce the most delicious baked goods/pastries in town. For me and many of my friends it would be a bitter loss if we couldn't count on their art of baking anymore.

It really is world class bread, and I have nothing to do with the business or owners either, but if L'Opera closed it would be a real loss.

It was wonderful to see so many people supporting L'Opera, when I went there recently, all the many French, UK and other customers, families and retirees. Everybody curteous and expressing real concern for the visibly injured employee, friendly and well behaved.

L'Opera brings out the best in people, great atmossphere to enjoy also the best coffee in town, not just the best bread.

Big thank you to Christophe and his fantastic Thai team. Their hard work is very much appreciated.

Very easy to find and convenient location. They are right opposite  Anantara Spa and resort.

On Sridonchai road. Just take a left at Pantip plaza traffic light coming from San Sai.

Thank you! Good idea!

I went there recently and enjoyed the high quality cakes and superb coffee, lovely people, both patrons and staff. That seriously injured staff is up and about working as before wearing a brace. Such hardworking people.

Like this place.

It's been about 3 weeks since they re-opened. Yes, that nice lady didn't look too good. I hope she recovers soon. My wife was under the impression she was Christophe's partner. No?
