Popular Post webfact
Deputy minister denies role in hoarding of face masks for sale to China By The Nation Thamanat Prompow Deputy Agriculture Minister Thamanat Prompow on Monday denied involvement in the hoarding of 200 million units of face masks for sale to Chinese traders. The minister was accused of involvement with Sornsuwee Puraweerassawach who had hoarded face masks to export to China. Sornsuwee updated the details of his business on his Facebook account which was spotted by Thai netizens. He had also posted a picture of himself with Phalang Pracharat Party MP Pittinan Rak-iat, who is related to the deputy minister. Thamanat said that he did not have any close association with Sornsuwee. He said he had only one conversation about the face mask business with him and decided not to make any business contract with Sornsuwee. He said that Pittinan was asked to inform the officials to prosecute Sornsuwee in a case of hoarding face masks and overpricing them and if Pittinan was guilty, he would himself prosecute him. When reporters asked Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on the issue, he only responded with a frown. Popular Post BobbyL
Incredible. I guessed it was him from just the headline. The man is a convicted class A international drug smuggler (not some low level street dealer selling a 10 draw of weed to some students). He has been proven to have fake post - graduate qualifications from a university in America that doesn't exist. And finally, now this. Imagine the things about him that we don't know. To put it simply, the man is a criminal and a fraudster, yet still holds a senior position in the government. Stuff like this makes me embarrassed to live in a country like this. 16

TallGuyJohninBKK
I just read today's BKK Post article on this... Amazingly, the entire story is just Thamanat giving his explanation of how he personally had nothing to do with this at all, and how his aide had just met with the other guy for an introduction meeting once, but nothing came of it. The entire story one-sided and doesn't even much say what was alleged in the Facebook post that apparently started the whole issue.

I thought that was a prerequisite of becoming a senior member of the Thai government. He seems to have the perfect qualifications in my view. Can't have corruption if you don't have the right ministers there to facilitate it. Whatever are you suggesting? Next thing you'll be asking for true democracy and honest elections. Popular Post Creasy
No surprise at all. The guy is a 100% certified convicted criminal. EricTh
I have been asking a few pharmacies in Chiang Mai for the masks and all of them said it is sold out. I only had the less effective ordinary cloth mask that is used for motorcycle. Wonder what happened to the surgical mask.

JustAnotherHun
When Thai ministers travel abroad do they check if there is an interpol arrest warrant before boarding? Would be a good idea I guess. 1
