Covid-19: "Phee Noi" back from Korea complain about their quarantine - think they might contract virus in Thailand

A social media post from a so called "Phee Noi" or Little Ghost has complained about the facilities they are undergoing at a sports center in the north east of Thailand.

The poster said they thought they would be taken with others from Suvarnabhumi airport to Sattahip - instead they wound up at a sports facility run by politician Newin Chidchob in Buriram where they are isolated with 100 others.

"Ombun Thipsuna" went on Facebook to complain at length claiming that Thailand was not properly prepared for them and with people from infected areas in South Korea in close proximity with those from non-infected areas there are fears that they will contract the virus in Thailand.

The Phee Noi are a major issue in Thailand at the moment - they are a group of potentially thousands of returnees to Thailand who have been working illegally in South Korea.

Many places have been set up for their quarantine throughout Thailand as they flee the Asian country where the outbreak of Covid-19 has been quite severe.

The message on Facebook started "urgent" and contained many pictures of the facilities.

The poster claimed that when they arrived from Bangkok, they were given a meal in a box then thrown together with few instructions or information.

People couldn't sleep because there were no fans and it was so hot. They were all housed in tents.

The poster spoke of terrible conditions, a lack of preparedness on behalf of the authorities, confusion and the possibility of having escaped the virus in South Korea but catching it in Thailand.

Communal bathrooms were overflowing and there were no flip-flops (thongs) provided.

They wanted the authorities to know and the media to act.

Earlier in the week a tour by the Khon Kaen governor of facilities in his province painted a very different picture of spacious facilities and order, notes Thaivisa.

Well, if you weren't sick before....

Seems like some people get barracks, hotels, apartments for quarantine, while others get a hot tent.

Then move on to....

Chikungunya quarantine

Dengue quarantine

Malaria quarantine

Leptospirosis quarantine

Shudder to think that if the CV-19 virus were to take hold here, that it would rip through migrant worker tin-shack "housing" with speed.

And the elderly population here seems quite vulnerable.

They're sending a message to the other 150,000 of them in South Korea - it's better to stay there.

Also anyone else arriving in Thailand with a bit of a cough if these are the quarantine facilities on offer.

I think they should be grateful they are getting looked after.   Like someone said the conditions where they we're working are not great.

Assumption? you don't know though, from what I have been told, many in my local villages work in Korea, the living conditions are ok, there certainly not 38c in the shade with no AC or privacy! Grateful? ????

I know this is a jolly good opportunity for all the local jokers to air their adolescent skills, but the op has a point:

"instead they wound up at a sports facility run by politician Newin Chidchob in Buriram where they are isolated with 100 others."

Unfortunately viruses dont have a sense of humour, they just want to invade the host and multiply and this criminally incompetent storage of human beings, has nothing to do with quarantine, and everything to do with humoring the virus. And 'local politition?"  God give me strength.

All these empty hotels from the lack of chinese tourists and they are  having to use a private sports centre for accommodation.

I think it's pretty fair to assume there's likely a considerable difference in the living conditions between...

--a Thai agricultural worker working in Korea, vs

--a Thai bar girl or massage lady working in Korea.

Lady work bar , good life better more , than girl, not beautiful work in paddy fields .

       Social dynamics ...

Those that have little to no trust in the ruling "elites" world wide may even be so bold as to suggest that they create "crisis" :shock1:

Silly - I know ????
