China will provide medical supplies including N95 masks and medicines to help Thailand fight the new coronavirus (Covid-19), a statement on the website of China’s Embassy in Bangkok said.

The statement said that Yang Xin, chargé d'affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Thailand, had a telephone conversation with Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on March 17, informing him that China was willing to provide assistance to Thailand in its fight against Covid-19.

The following day, Yang Xin met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Health Anutin Charnvirakul, to discuss details of the assistance.

Yang Xin said that in the course of responding to the epidemic, "China and Thailand have stood shoulder to shoulder, and extended mutual support to each other, which exemplify a deep traditional friendship ... China is willing to offer a helping hand within its capacity despite the still daunting task of fighting the virus at home."

The Chinese government will provide Thailand with medical materials such as test kits, surgical masks, N95 masks and medical protective garments, and it will coordinate with Chinese companies to export medicines for the treatment of Covid-19. Chinese enterprises in Thailand and friendly Chinese civil societies are also mobilised in donating medical supplies to Thailand.

Prayut and Anutin expressed their firm support for China’s efforts to combat the Covid-19 epidemic, the statement said, adding the Thai leaders also congratulated China for achieving positive progress under the leadership of President Xi Jinping.

The statement said that on behalf of the Thai government and the Thai people, the prime minister thanked China for its valuable support and assistance, believing it fully reflects China's government has put the development of bilateral relations high on its agenda.

Anutin lauded China's gesture to lend a helping hand in this most difficult time, which he believed exemplifies the special friendship of “Thai and China as one family”. He believed that after overcoming this challenge, Sino-Thai relationship will be more consolidated, the Chinese embassy statement said.

Going on the last porkies told by the government about the number of cloth face masks available, prompts me to ask: When will both of these N95 masks arrive?

Thanks for returning the masks.

Yeah they've taken them all from the shelves in Australia leaving Aussies with none.  And now they are in vans travelling to country towns and taking all the toilet paper to sell on Weibo.  Towns are left with no toilet paper.  Poor townsfolk and old people are suffering from their greed.  These despicable students (mainly) absolutely do not care about us and treat us all with total contempt.  The government has stepped up with getting immigration involved and barring them from shopping centres.  But really?  We shouldn't have to be doing that in the first place.

I totally agree and I am not really getting at the general population as I pity them more for having to live under such a regime. I have 'mainlander' friends who despise the regime and a vast amount of their fellow countrymen. They are pretty much in self-exile all over the world, left for uni and just basically tore up their passports, some have even had their families threatened by the state if they didn't return.

Thailand should look into help from Japan and/or Taiwan as both have had fro quite sometime the Favilavir and Remdesivir anti viral medication for quite some time and it appears that's what China used when the infected numbers were jumping all over

And the Thai news made it sound like China created it, but Fujifilm did

The situation obviously is not ideal and nations will never forget where the virus started but it seems beneficial to have China providing critical supplies.  What did everyone expect?

China is not responsible for incompetancies, cheating, lying and obfuscation of Western leaders that made it explode in Europe and USA.

That PR announcement by the two governments is probably the last any of us will ever hear of it, and more than likely will never see any of those N95 masks reach retail outlets here.

I'd imagine, anything and everything Thailand might get from China is going to be reserved for the public health system here, which is no doubt woefully undersupplied to deal with a widespread CV outbreak.
