Do the new “fit to fly” (medical cert/insurance) rules apply for domestic flights within Thailand?

Featured Replies

This might be a stupid question, but I can’t find information on this anywhere online. We are two Brits and have a flight booked back to the UK on the 24th April. We are currently in Chiang Mai and are flying into BKK tomorrow evening (23rd) to give us enough time to catch our connecting flight on the 24th, in case of complications.

The new rules state that people transiting through Bangkok also need to show a medical cert/insurance and we’re technically also transiting through. Just wondering if we’ll get turned away for our flight to BKK tomorrow even though we’re already in the country...?

No.

You are not transiting as it means you don't leave the airport area and has left at the international side in chiang mai.

Instead you are flying local flight so no border crossing yet.

Everything will be ok.

Even if you leave at the international side in chiang mai thus effevtively transiting in bangkok, you did 'leave' thailand in chiang mai and cant leave the area in bangkok.

The requirement is for who are transiting in thailand coming from other country and going to another country.
