A woman with a low fever was detained on Friday (April 3) for intentionally spitting while on a train to Khon Kaen province.

Public health officials in Nakhon Ratchasima were informed by train staff at 9am that a woman had spat on the floor of train No 431 with the perceived intention of spreading disease.

She was taken off the train and screened for fever by a hand-held monitor, which registered her body temperature at 37.9 degrees Celsius while normal body temperature is 36.5 - 37.5°C.

Officials learned that the woman was a resident of Khon Kaen province who had a history of mental illness. She had got on the train without purchasing a ticket. She was taken to the public health office in Non Soong district, Nakhon Ratchasima, for questioning.

The train was sanitised to prevent any spread of Covid-19.
