I assume you mean a emergency travel document.

It would depend upon what type of ETD it is.

Some countries issue them that are equal to a passport. 

If it is one that only allows travel to you home country a I am sure they would not normally issue an extension.

Thank you for your reply. I am from UK and have several months before I need to worry. You may be aware there is no way UK citizens can renew there passport from Thailand at present because VFS the agency who  deal with this are closed until  further notice on instructions from the UK Home office.  Most of us have no need to travel and the website for ETD,S will not let you proceed with a fictitious travel date greater than six weeks. As I said I have no problem for months but we have no idea how long this problem will last for. If it is for months someone will have to look outside the box.
