The obvious one is the Bible, which in some circles is called the good book. Although not everyone thinks it's good!

A book on bicycle repairs is good if you have a broken bike !!!

On a more serious note, a good book for me is one which drifts me away to another place by the eloquence of the writer and his/her ability to stir the imagination. While enjoying such a book, another good one is required, which is large, flat and big enough to put my bottle of Chang on while reading the other.
