Pattaya railway station free food lines,never ever have I seen such a queue,hard to give precise numbers,but it just grew and grew,originally snaked 4 deep,then straightened out to stretch up to the crossing,but all the time the line getting re-filled,tragic,stuffed a bundle of 20s into individuals small offerings,nothing really   its so damned sad

The second killer may not be a virus at all...food shortages are a real possibility with food processing plants around the world hit hard by the virus have had to completely stop operation...with no idea when they might reopen...

 

Food...could become as valuable as gold...

Back "in the sticks" people can farm their own food. Not in a big city where many are housed in apartments and condos.

On Soi Bua Khao, a local was giving out free ice cream. A substantial queue was formed.

It's difficult to know how to respond to that news.

Of course, it's a very nice gesture by the person who is providing the free ice creams (if you're an ice cream maker it's all you can do), but ice cream is hardly an essential item which people might need to queue for.

On the other hand, there's lots of people in Pattaya with no work, no income, and nothing else to do with their time - so, why not join the queue, any queue.

It is good to read all the great stories of help and generosity in Thailand and around the world - but (so far as I can see) it's the poorer and middle classes who are helping each other - what are the multi-billionaires doing?

Rompho market in Jomtien, the owner is feeding literally thousands and gave away 500,000 Baht in cash on the first day. Kudos to him, but so sad for the Thai folk to have to do this.
