What about a 3 months visa exemption like MY, SG and HK?

Extendable to 12 months by proving you can afford it.

Condo owners >3mn฿ should get PR status and scrap the re-entry permit annoyance.

Spouses of Thais get a settlement visa including WP and can own 1 rai of land.

Foreigners holding a settlement visa should be able to own 100% and run a business without Thais.

Successful countries all have a high percentage of foreigners.

With most people here uneducated and living of simple jobs requiring no education, Thailand will be facing a very long downturn period after this. It will take years for the tourism industry to bounce back. And not many foreign companies (small or big) will see Thailand as a place to invest. In fact, I believe many companies will move more of their outsourcing and production back home.

Had Thailand spent efforts on education and had a more stable political system, it would have had a much better chance of survival. Instead it will now be facing a nearly unable to fix financial challenge.

Normal Thai-people are in for a lot of hurt for a very long time. I am happy I do not have to attend that meeting, because only thing I could suggest would be improve education, get rid of corruption and attract foreign investments. Suggestions i am sure no one attending the meeting would like to hear.

Simple. Rent a conference hall, assemble the TVF members, take notes. How could these folks possibly know more about their culture, people, businesses, economy, and government than TVF?  ????

For starters you can open up the economy and start massive testing to monitor potential spread.

Make foreign ownership easier and less tax for foreign investors.

Protect your nature.

Legalise marijuana and tax it.

Thailand Officialdom. Full of committees of ass licking cronies . The country will see mass deprivation with health issues if it doesnt move fast. Infections are clear in most provinces and even in Bangkok its minimal. If these restrictions last beyond May then suffering and collapse will be incalculable. Banning Alcohol sales and Closing parks highlights what a bunch of "bleep" run this country

Thailand has 60 day tourist visas. Surely 60 days is long enough for any tourist? If you need to come for longer, and for other reasons, then a 90 day Non-Immigrant visa is available. Then extensions allowing even longer stays.

They don't want foreigners owning land. They are too proud of never being officially colonised to ever allow foreign land ownership, so it will never happen in our lifetimes (treaty of Amity and other rare exceptions excluded). There's also other issues with land ownership that we are not permitted to discuss here. A non-starter.

They want foreigners that contribute to the economy, transfer skills to the Thai workforce, and integrate, and they want to cherry pick, not just create a free for all. Opening up PR to condo owners defeats the purpose as most condo owners do not contribute in the ways they want, do not fit the demographic they are looking for and there would be a glut of applicants. Another non-starter.

Work permits for those married to Thais? Settlement visas? The Thais are well aware of the... erm, loose morals of their own and so fully understand the quality of foreign men that marry Thais is not an effective measure of who should stay in the country. Another non-starter.

Thailand does allow 100% foreign ownership of businesses under certain conditions and in areas where there is a recognised requirement.

Needless to say, in general they don't want an influx of new and wholly owned foreign businesses increasing the competition. They are quite happy with the uneven playing field allowing Thai owned and operated businesses having an advantage. If you are clever enough there are opportunities and there's always got to be Thais involved whatever you do.

Bottom line, they tolerate us, but they don't really want the majority of us here. We play by their rules. If you're clever, you'll work it out.

There are plenty of very generous tax incentives under BOI for those considering opening a foreign owned business in Thailand and even opportunities for 100% foreign ownership. Depending what sector you are investing in, there's up to 13 years tax free and that's a lot better than what most countries will offer to foreign businesses.

You need to be serious though, opening a beer bar or pie shop in Patters isn't going to cut it.

Better than some countries but not good enough to attract the big boys.

In regards to smaller businesses, they bring capital aswell! It has nothing to do with not being serious. Thailand doesn't have an environment where companies feel comfortable investing in.

ALL major players are in the long run being bought by the rich Thai's. Tesco is the latest who is pulling the plug.
