COVID Antibody testing available

Featured Replies

I'm on the mailing list for MedConsult asia an just got a notice that they are able to do COVID antibody testing.  Useful if you suspect you may already have had COVID and want to find out for sure.

If they have it, likely so do other private labs/hospitals though I do not see anything on the major hospital websites as yet. Chula Hospital has it, but being a government facility, if you test positive they may require you to undergo further tests to see if the infection is still active (snd if these are positive you might be put into quarantine)

Its is described as "2019-nCoV IgG/IgM Rapid Test ", manufacturer is not mentioned and I have no idea re quality. Quite likely it is the test develope by Chula https://www.chula.ac.th/en/news/28822/?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=covid_19_antibody_test_is_now_available_at_our_affiliated_laboratory_testing_centers&utm_term=2020-04-20

It should be noted that even the sole antibody test currently approved by US FDA has not yet been through FDA review process, see https://www.thailandmedical.news/news/warning-many-covid-19-rapid-antibody-diagnostic-test-kits-are-either-inaccurate-or-fake-and-have-not-been-approved-by-us-fda,-eu-or-japan-regulatory-b

There is such a pressing need for antibody testing that countries everywhere are waiving/accelerating normal approval processes
