The  video from the two SoCal PRACTICING immunologists has very strong arguments for opening up lockdown which are based purely on international statistical comparisons,( that I can identify with) 

but here’s the kicker that I’m hoping somebody can answer in this forum hopefully without conspiracy theories or flippant remarks. - IF these Doctors are even HALFWAY correct and we COULD possibly control the inevitable deaths at 0.1% rather than the current 0.3%, through SELECTIVE precautionary measures, then WHY is total lockdown the preferred government route when politicians,  of ALL people, would know the bankruptcies,  to individuals, to businesses in general and to whole NATIONS for a generation to come that it will cause. ? Do we hate big business SO much?

Wheres the figures for infections and deaths in Thailand from this expert?  It was around 20 with no deaths  earlier in the week .Fact is if most countries had the low level it has it would get economy going again, Curfews, parks closed and no alcohol. Total over reaction. Destroying people s lives by not allowing shops to open.

Why do politicians of all stripes treat Bill Gates like the Pope of the new pandemics religion.  The guy made his money selling computer software, for Pete's sake, and doesn't have any medical qualifications.

 

Yet he is given endless media platforms to pontificate, and the idiots who run our lives stupidly take everything this philanthro-capitalist spouts as gospel.

 

Shouldn't we rather listen to people who are better qualified to judge whether the Day of Judgement is really coming - unless, of course, we agree to give up our rights, freedoms and entire way of life to our political/corporate overlords?

My very personal opinion, is that global economy is/was in need of a reset.

To expand a little, the climate and pollution issues need some change, and probably the welfare system of the more developed nations is/was on the brink of sustainability.

One can only hope that the changes will be for the better.

I hope that doesn't sound too much like a conspiracy theory.

Rubbish. How many out of Thailands official workforce can do their jobs from home? If you work for let's say an insurance company it will probably work out. You just need a proper internet. 

Excellent read and so true , why are the so called leaders (they're not leading they're dictating)  and experts so easily misled and afraid to stand clear and get on with it. Afraid of being critisized or losing face , huge egos or what ? People that are afraid to go out are welcome to stay home, hope they do.

Gates has been talking about pandemics for years. He's been thinking about the ramifications for longer than that. If he's saying something it's not likely to be "plagiarism", but rather something of which he's been aware for some time.

One possible answer is found in the election cycle. Politicians focus a lot of energy on staying in power (for example, getting re-elected in the next election). While the lockdown policy might not be logical and soundly based on valid science, the voters are not logical, informed actors. So, I assume lockdown policies are largely in effect due to the politicians thinking that that action will seem more satisfying to the voter than not doing them.

Personally I think curfews will be the norm for many years to come in Thailand. But I'd say it will be between midnight - 4am. Not sure if I'd be entirely happy with it, but it wouldn't exactly ruin my life as I don't care for nightlife. Moving forward, I'm certainly going to be one of those people who will wear facemasks every time I go out from now on.
