You first say that there are asymptomatic people who are infected and show no signs of infection, which is great reason why the lock-down has to be strict. Then, you describe the lock-down as a joke.

Maybe you should spend some time thinking things through.

So you  think the measures and how they are being implemenTed are acceptable balanced and not overkill in anyway??

This i find extremely hard to believe if your being honest Karen.

The proof that these measures have worked is that deaths in Thailand are only in double digits. Phuket has had only a single death. You are confusing cause and effect. You think that because there have been relatively few infections, the measures are too strict. Have you ever thought that maybe the reason that there have been fewer infections is because these measures have been so strict.

There is only going to be one chance at getting rid of this virus and I'd rather they do it overly strict than not strict enough.

If you want honesty, how about showing some yourself. You are obviously not concerned with your own safety, nor anyone elses. You would rather have your old, comfortable life back, even if it means other people can potentially become infected and die. Very selfish.

Yes there are asymptomatic people but what has banning alcohol or blockading small towns, closing beaches will do, not much....

I totally agree with many other regulations in place, like social distancing rules, people should keep away from each other and wear mask and use sanitizer entering shops and closure of risky businesses,  those are the main reasons for the virus slow spread, the rest is just flexing muscles by power hungry authorities who have no clue or logic and trying to scare people into compliance...!

See blockading small towns ans closing risky businesses, it prevents the spread from beyond that area.

Well, that's fine but if you use that logic why not close the streets and even lock you in your house, how far do you go....  those blockades are just for us, many people with friends in right places and also others under guise of so called essential workers get through and spread whatever they like...

The island is closed,  isn't that enough,  provinces are closed everywhere else only Phuket suffers from this draconian sub-district restriction....

And now Patong: Bangla Rd is said to be risky area and stay closed,  so what does that mean, is whole of Patong or just one street Bangla under lockdown... !? And where is this virus hiding in Bangla after it was closed to even foot traffic for 1.5 months, and disinfected from top of the lamp posts to sewers twice...! And as we know not many people actually live in that road..., this virus must be very clever if it is still lurking in there... !?  ????

Won't get involved in your rant, but will clarify one thing, if they say Bangla is closed they mean Bangla is closed, not Patong.

So, my wife tells me that having got people excited yesterday by each sub district asking them to register if they want to their home province, that has been scrapped until 31st May (or a seperate order from national government).

Apparently more than 20,000 people registered.   There are going to be a lot of angry people today.

I'm not sure that you are correct there.   Province lockdown was a decree from government.   Tambon lockdown was a local decision by Phuket's Governor.   I would expect there to be official clarity later today.

It's currently all over the news, both local and Countrywide. There may well be an announcement later, however it seems the PM has pulled the rug from under the Provinicial Governors feet regarding local rules.

Well that should be good regarding the tambon closure. What's also annoying is that I gave some beers away in anticipation of being able to restock on May 1st. Now down to my last ten beers and no wine.

I would say bad, as the PM now has control of any decisons made by Provincial Governors. He has over ruled the Phuket Governor and stated and signed a decree that Tambons remain locked until further notice.

He hasn't. Tambon closure is not a nationwide directive. It may even be limited to Phuket.

It was limited to Phuket, not Nationwide, correct. As from late last night the PM has ordered that any decisions made at Provincial level are not going ahead until further notice. Its all over several news sources.

The order will last from May 1 until May 31.

This means that relief and easing measures set to be introduce by various governors around the country, including Bangkok, may be in jeopardy as it is now unclear whether the governors will continue to enjoy the autonomy that they have experienced so far.

Which is far from the same as 'tambons will remain in lockdown' as you said in the post I reacted to.

Not really, as Tambons are currently locked, and 'Tambons in Phuket will remain closed/locked until further notice.' as i stated. If you can show me anything that says they will re-open at midnight tonight as planned i would be grateful
