power to change the world and rid it from viruses and all other bad things that might negatively affect our life. If you do not own that capacity, please refrain from a reply.

We have been living with "viruses and other bad things"  since the beginning of time !

of course I don't have  the capacity to rid the world of viruses nor do you, even the best minds in the world are still looking to rid the world of viruses like HIV,malaria and the common cold  we can't live in a sterile bubble wrapped in cotton wool  life will and must go on.

Let the poor people starve as they stay out of work and the politicians are frightened to make decisions.  The tourism industry especially in places like Pattaya are doomed.  The poor workers in the bars can't even go home. I doubt if even 50% of those bars will ever reopen.

Didn't they say they were going to open the airport soon, which doesn't really make sense if a state of emergency is still in effect..?

Have you offered your opinion to the government? And governments around the world?

Perhaps WHO would be interested?

WHO do you think said test, test and test . Perhaps WHO should be interested and taking aim at places where they are pathetic in doing so.

Here they either dont listen or dont want to bother.

Until there is a much increased level of testing, we will never know how well spread the virus is, and the risk it poses.

With the govt figures, do you seriously conclude that its an emergency?

If so, the roads here should have been shuttered years ago to stop the senseless slaughter of so many people each year.

With the current paranoia, if there is just one virus case in next month then they could continue the controls

and so on, as long as they want.

Ultra low transmission. And they have a curfew, hotel ban and alcohol ban. Thai logic. Are they trying to crash the economy on purpose?

Some doctors are breaking ranks with official government policy - listen to minutes 3 to 7 at least.

Don't know much about these doctors but they own a testing center in CA https://youtu.be/3R54b0pq56A?t=31

My point precisely. Hence I said 'be careful' to a friend going to work. But thanks, for underlining my point.

I agree, and think that alcohol sales will probably resume. I think the original bans were put in place to ensure no Songkran festivities took hold.

Really long Songkran this year!

so should i change my Thai Friendly profile to say "Free room, A/C, WiFi, food and Netflix for one month. Must be open minded. Submit your bid."

We do not need this extension. I see people on streets and everyone is fine. None of my friends is sick. There is no point to put whole country under house arrest just because there is some virus somewhere. We leaved with viruses for many years and  first time in my life I see this madness when people are enforced to wear muzzles like dogs, check points are everywhere. Where are our freedoms and rights?????

My rights are essential!!! Let people work!!! Stop lock down now!!!

It looks like they will extend it. Dongtan Beach was closed to everyone at 5 PM on Sunday and today no one was allowed on the beach.

Extending emergency, curfew by another month proposed

By THE NATION

(Update) The government’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSR) resolved on Monday (April 27) to extend the state of emergency, set to expire on April 30, by another month, CCSR’s spokesman Dr Taweesin Visanuython said.

The 10pm to 4am curfew will also be maintained, he said.

The Culture Ministry has also proposed that the public holidays in the month of May will be postponed.

However, the final decision on these proposals will lie in the hands of the Cabinet.

The government clamped the state of emergency on March 26 until April 30 and imposed a 10pm to 4am curfew on April 3.

One more time for the slower ones in the room. Road accidents do not spread exponentially. One accident does not spread to 2 then to 4, ... Not the same thing at all.

Sir , the virus was here in Thailand going back to December or January . We have been fortunate due to a variety of factors not to have incurred the full wrath of the virus .  We have only 50+ deaths .  There is no evidence at all of the virus spreading exponentially here .  Each country in the world has different variables .  Here in Thailand ,  we have abundant sunshine and high humidity which has been shown to hinder the virus .  Also many studies have shown a weaker strain of the virus is currently here in SE Asia .  I was in favor of the initial precautions enacted here ,  and they have proven correct .  It is now time to begin to relax many of these orders .  We can not live in this type of a state until a vaccine if found , if it ever is .  There is no exponential spread here . Hospitals have not been overrun .   There are lines of starving people everyday ,  they need to begin to work again .

Further, a complete lack of understanding of how this 'crisis' is their wet dream test case for controlling the masses and the concept of a slippery slope. The naivete is breathtaking.

The emergency decree has to be in place until people stop complaining and understand it is helping them and the rest of the country to stay healthy. Not talking about the economic side here. Just that maybe people can learn and not break the rules next time. If that is achieved, then it might take much shorter next time.

Staying healthy!!!!!!!

Have you not seen the queues of people standing waiting for handouts because they have no money or food to put on the table!!!!

The lockdown doesn't really have anything to do with Covid 19 it's about control of the people

Thailand has some of the lowest infections in the world and barely any deaths now.   Total Control Freaks, from the Gov and Junta PM to those in the medical profession.  My experience in Thailand of the Med Profession is over caution on anything. eg, after a course of antibiotics and the problem clears up, youre told to take another course ( just as a precaution) and to return to hospital  multiple times. All this for just some bacterial infection. I ignore them Always . Other countries with more infections are moving out of lockdown , Thailand with barely any continues to control Peoples movements.. Cant wait to leave !

Because now Bill Gate control Thailand, waiting another year closed

1 more month?

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha will extend the State of Emergency act put in place to curtail the spread of Covid-19 by another month, the government said on Monday.

“The SOE has worked very well in protecting us and having gauged public opinion we have decided to extend the SOE by another month,” said government spokesman Dr Thaweesin Visanuyothin.

The government said the SOE extension means it will continue to restrict travel in and out of the kingdom, restrict travel between provinces, continue curfew measures and stop mass gatherings and events.

The government will also ease certain lockdown measures as the number of new infections drop.

Lockdown measures that have affected the public and various businesses will be selectively eased based on need and health and safety. The government will introduce easing measures in four stages with intervals of 14 days between the stages.

Dr Thaweesin said it would be up to the cabinet to decide which businesses would be allowed to reopen first but said that among the businesses suggested by the committee on Monday were malls, restaurants and beauty parlours.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand said on Monday that it would extend its flight ban in line with the SOE extension. Incoming flights will not be allowed until the end of May.

Lowering toll

Thailand’s government said on Monday that it had discovered 9 new coronavirus infections bringing the total number of infected to 2,931 cases.

There was 1 new fatality with the death toll now at 52.

15 more patients have recovered from the virus bringing the total number of discharged patients to 2,609.

No surprise really I think State Of Emergency Rule could be the new normal.

Congratulations on your 9th post and welcome to TVF.

The virus started to spread exponentially and this caused the lockdown to occur. Thailand was fortunate enough to start the lockdown early in the exponential cycle, and as a result was spared what happened in other countries. The straight line in yellow on the logarithmic scale indicates exponential growth. Without intervention, (around week of march 22nd), this would have grown 10x within 2 weeks, and 2 weeks after that could have been in Italy or Spain regions. This is why lockdowns are necessary, and why lockdowns work (at least in the short term).

And the populace will bow down in thanks as each little restriction is eased.

I'm quite happy with a long extension as long as the Visa amnesty is extended as well but I do give thought to the Thai workers who are laid off. I help one family near me, but the other family who needs help are 400 km away and transport to get their is cancelled. Train,Bus.
