Deputy PM Prawit Wongsuwan

Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan on Monday (April 27) denied reports of a pending Cabinet reshuffle, especially at the Finance Minister.

It was recently reported that six Cabinet positions were up for changing, including incumbent Finance Minister Uttama Savanayana being replaced by his deputy, Santi Prompat.

Prawit insisted that the report was untrue, adding that all of the government’s attention was focused on curbing Covid-19 transmissions.

He also denied reports that he had told Uttama to step down as head of the leading coalition party Phalang Pracharath.

Hrmmm…

Predictably, Mr Prawit says this is not true… But. Always worth asking this question.

If it were true, would he say so?

Didn’t think so either.

a couple of thailand's big problems ; in the photo and in the title of the article; wrong people in the wrong jobs and then shuffling the unqualified ministers to other equally unqualified slots

It's seen as a sport in government circles....the reshuffles are for personal economic equalism (??)....sharing the trough after the big guys have had their serve!

So it's imminent then?

In the junta lexicon , a denial is an affirmation of some impending action.

e.g

There won't be a coup.

I don't want to cling to power.

That's all they're thinking about 24/7 and couldn't spare 15 minutes to pay attention to anything else. They even forget to eat lunch and dinner... They don't have ANY other matters to attend to.

If the Police said they don't have time, I'd agree - they're all busy in the station houses counting used bills and banding them up for storage in the safe... but the government, surely not!
