Hat Yai Municipality has allowed markets to reopen, municipal clerk Amorn Wongwan said today (May 5).

He said that to comply with the regulation under Section 9 of the Emergency Decree, market operators must specify exits and entrances, set up hand-sanitising checkpoints, mark lines for maintaining social distancing and undertake cleaning operations periodically.

“Meanwhile, retailers and customers must wear face masks when at markets,” he added.

I have been to 4 different markets in the last couple of weeks and none of them were closed.

I assume he must mean non-food markets, the local meat and fruit & veg markets in Hat Yai Nai have never closed, only the Sunday flea market.
