Many people queued in a narrow space at the Government Savings Bank and Krungthai Bank branches in Chiang Mai’s Doi Saket district today (May 5) to check whether they received the Bt5,000 cash handout under the government’s “Rao Mai Thing Gun” (“We Do Not Leave Anyone Behind”) campaign.

A reporter at the scene said there were no policemen to manage the queue or enforce social distancing.

To be eligible for the three-month handouts, people must be Thai citizens aged over 18 whose livelihoods have been impacted by the Covid-19 crisis and be self-employed, freelance or a non-permanent employee who is not insured under social security.

Those who receive the first handout this month will be given Bt10,000 – for the months of April and May.

One of the people who queued to get into one of the banks explained that it had to be done because they had no ATM cards and could not use a mobile banking application to check the balance in their accounts.

"We do not leave anyone behind campaign"

Well it looks like too many people missed the bus.. Shameful that too many people didn't receive a single satang for survival after Covid unemployment.. The Thai people will remember this post corona, and hopefully with the pray of Buddha oust this uncaring and incompetent government..
