Latest developments and discussion of recent events in the Ukraine War
No, it is not alright for Russia to target Zelenskyy. I believe that western intelligence and security forces have intervened multiple times to warn and to protect Zelenskyy in the past, so the western actions are not unusual. The western position is common sense because as I wrote, the Russians would retaliate with a barrage so intense that nothing would be left of Ukraine. Ukrainians might dream of a western reprisal but Western nations would not go to war with Russia over it because the Ukraine is not worth the risk and the cost at this time. The Ukrainians should be grateful for the massive injections of aid to date and not push their luck. The aid has been based upon the preservation of Ukraine's sovereignty and more importantly the defense of Europe, not an attack on Russia itself. As the USA has not denied the report, I believe it has some substance. There is nothing to be gained for either the USA or Russia from the report, save for the fact that it presents the USA as a responsible nation that will do the right thing and to see the big picture. -

How to register a heir/next of kin with bank
Yes, like properties and split say between 2 linked families with differing surnames or nicknames and was told by a lawyer that NY wishes are too complicated and yes our families agreed but in regards to the bank the ex-pat has 800K in the bank account and yes think distant cousins and thieves can make a claim and has to go to Probate. Yes can write not wishes and have done before but even if there is a will and that is not just in Thailand people can query a will through the courts. Write one out expressing your wishes but in any case, one would not know whether your wishes would be carried out or not and yes true to life everyone fighting for what they can get. -

What's behind the current THB strength?
Chiang Mai has already correctly explained it in the first post, the market anticipated an interest rate cut because inflation was easing. That was the main reason for the dollar falling. If the dollar falls other currencies gain in value normally. Then there were a few other, less important, reasons, the BoJ intervention which strengthened the Yen leading to many long UJ traders unwidin their big positions, and therefore causing the USD to decline further, the crazy Israelis precipitating a regional war in the middle east and slightly unexpected US economic markers. There were a few others no doubt as well. As Lacessit said, currencies fluctuate, all perfectly normal. -

Help needed to be able to transfer money from my UK bank
Hi, I am a UK citizen having an extended holiday in Thailand. I want to transfer money from my Nationwide current account to a new payee but to do that Nationwide insists that I insert my Debit card into a card reader. I did not bring my Nationwide Debit or Credit cards with me to Thailand. I can log into my Nationwide account via the internet and they send a OTP to my UK SIM card. Nationwide via secure messages after I am logged in still insist that to send money to a new payee I would need to insert my card into a card reader. I have just had a conversation with a friend and they firmly believe that because I have a UK SIM card I can download Nationwide banking App to my phone, then I can transfer to a new payee without needing my debit card or card reader. I have a gut feeling that to fully install the App I would need to be in the UK but I don’t have specific details and I might be wrong. Maybe to set up and register the App I would need my card and a card reader? I am just guessing. It just seems too easy to just install the banking App. to overcome my problem. Does anyone have any information about this? It would help me decide whether to try installing the banking App or wait until I am back in the UK early next year. Thanks in advance Keith -

Story Of My Thai Citizenship Application
Donations to charity (with official receipt) are indeed required, and it was THB 5,000 when I applied. However, a donation of 1 million Baht to the lawyer's coffers is anybody's own decision.
