China, South Korea removed from list of high-risk countries

Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul

 

The Public Health Ministry on Friday (May 15) announced that it has removed China, South Korea as well as Hong Kong and Macau from its list of countries with high risk of Covid-19 infection.

 

 

The announcement, signed by Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, has been published in the Royal Gazette and will go into effect as of May 16.

 

The announcement said the four countries and territories were being removed from the list because they have proved that they are well prepared, both from medical and public health aspects, to effectively handle the outbreak.

South Korean tourists (men) might be interested in coming to Thailand, but no go go bars or massage parlours open, so no point for them. Hordes of Chinese tourists unlikely with a 14 day quarantine when back in China, Hong Kong and Macau, so that leaves not much.

1) There's also the problem of no normal international flights allowed to land here, and

2) Isn't there still a stipulation that people entering the country have to observe a 14-day quarantine upon arrival?

I didn't mean now, maybe later if/when Thailand opens up, why would they remove them from the list otherwise.

So, it would make sense to just get rid of the list rather than leaving some countries on it.

Lets see what happens as we get closer to the 31st of this month.  That should be a tell tell sign, but then the Government slammed the door on the re-opening of Phuket airport yesterday.....

Hundreds of asymptomatic cases are being monitored by Wuhan health authorities. Such people can spread the virus despite not being sick, but China does not count asymptomatic cases in its official tally of confirmed infections until they show symptoms. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-52613138

That’s it. Old Winnie the Pooh went to Wuhan and said their fight against covid was a success. Now they’re testing 11 million people. I don’t know how the logistics of that work. I’m imagining lines of people who aren’t socially distancing properly. But once you’re tested negative, that must be it. You don’t have it and you’re cleared. No need to worry you might contract it after the fact. 
 

In the CCP we trust. Well, in China you have no choice.

Until >70% herd immunity is achieved  - most probably by immunisation - there could always be regular outbreaks in the near future, and both China and South Korea are seemingly well prepared for a second wave attack. Taiwan is just as capable, but at odds with the Chinese - and Thais who lap up to the Chinese.

It's probably all for show since most of the testing in China is completely unreliable. Most of the countries in the West have shunned the <deleted> that China has sold or "donated" since it's faulty.

The government needs to look like they are taking control to keep people content, so they create these fake events. I believe I read they want to test all 11 million people in Wuhan in a week - that's impossible. But they put on a show, tell everyone all is good and get back to work - typical behavior of this government.

All the while, there will be millions of infected Chinese spreading "the love" all over the world once again and TAT will be there welcoming with open arms and mango and sticky rice.

not sure if you are following but Thailand is doing a great job at controlling the outbreak. Unlike America where the whole crisis and the decision making is being politisized, here in Thailand its leaders focus on the facts.

Do Chinese tourists need to be quarantined for 14 days in Thailand? Then another 14 days when they go back to China?

 

Then most of the time, they are just quarantine-ing and not shopping so what's the point of coming to Thailand?

That's untrue and there's no lockdown (those are just rumors). The cases have been low for the past 14 days just like Thailand.

 

If a 'new outbreak' means single digit or less than 20 cases, then there's new outbreak everywhere in the world.
