Biden apologizes for saying radio host 'ain't black' if undecided about U.S. election

Biden’s remark was clearly unacceptable and he has very rightly been criticized for it.

He’s also accepted the criticism, accepted what he said was well out of order and apologized.

That’s a strength, not a weakness.

No, it's a glimpse of his thought process. NO one should EVER say anything like that, particularly when running for what used to be considered the highest office in the land.

Both were senile but only one will ever be studied by scholars or remembered. Pardon the pun.

Reagan started his presidency at the age of 70, and didn't exhibit overt signs of Alzheimer's until well after his presidency in late 1992. Biden, if he is elected, will be the same age at inauguration that Reagan was at his retirement from office... and his symptoms seem quite advanced already. Big difference.

What is now considered the highest office in the land?

LOLOLOL

Racist comments are a strength, not a weakness, as long as you do a call-in apology.

Plenty vying for that position.

I don't wish to insult old people, but this highest office, whatever it is, is stressful and there should be some age limit.

This year we had Bernie 78, Biden 77, and Bloomberg 78, vying for the position. Pelosi at 80 is way too old to hold her powerful position. Why isn't there some younger talent in that party? Someone that looks like they could handle 8 years?

Thinking out loud here, I hope to live long enough to see AOC in the oval. She does ZERO fundraising because people believe in her, and her actions speak volumes.

So the Democrats are going to differentiate themselves on racism by supporting a candidate who says racist things without realizing it.

BUT apologizes for upsetting the base when the racism of his statement is pointed out to him.

If that's a "strength" it's a weak one.

Not that we expect more of you but he is clearly refering to the fact that a quick apology is a sign of strength, not the racist comment. Apologising is something Trump has never done having said far worse things.

Diane Abbot....biggest racist going, yet never reprimanded

Wow. Just wow.

The guy who actually holds the highest office in the land has said far, far worse than this. Remember his 'fine people on both sides' comment when refering to Charlottesville or suggesting a judge should recuse himself from a case solely because of the judge’s Mexican heritage or when talking about people from African countries, “Why are we having all these people from <deleted>hole countries come here?

This is whilst he actually was the President, never mind a nominee.

And therefore, because the Republicans chose a candidate who makes a lot of questionable statements it's okay for the Democrats to choose a candidate who makes lots of questionable statements.

I'm sitting out another election.

It's a bit of an insult to Reagan to put these two together in the same photo. Reagan was an extraordinary orator. Biden can't speak, period. Reagan knew how to tell a joke. Biden just puts his foot in his mouth every time he makes an attempt at humor.

You are right, but I didn't put them in the photo as you know, I merely used it to show the difference between articulate and inarticulate. Reagan's speech flowed, Biden's is merely flawed.

Democrats taking the black vote for granted again. Biden is a liability. These deeply held and ingrained views are supposed to remain behind locked doors, if they don't want to spook the electorate. They are just so toxic on every level, who will be voting for this band of merry misfits in November?

My money is on the silent majority .????

Name one other 'questionable statement' Biden has made in regards to race then if there's lots of them?

You are trying to make one ill-thought out remark to mean Biden is racist whereas there are literally dozens from Trump that prove he's racist. That's disingenuos at best, deceitful at worse.

Don't worry, Biden. Even with the occasional stupid gaffe you're not even remotely in the same league as Trump with his daily torrent of filth, lies and stupidities.

How is it double standards? This has been reported and rightly denounced in all the MSM, promting a swift apology from Biden. Even us 'liberals' on this forum are not condoning what he said.

You only cry 'double standards' because it fits into your narrative.

Too bad the blue collar silent majority wouldn’t buy into his 2016 campaign promise to bring jobs back again. No increase in jobs and those silent majority will turn away from Trump this time.

Has anyone noted that Biden, unlike Trump, is capable of admitting an error?

Former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. raised eyebrows on Thursday during a speech in Iowa when he said that “poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids".

Bonus quote (with reference to Barack Obama);

I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy," Biden said. "I mean, that's a storybook, man".

Exactly. Like most of us he's capable of being self-critical, a trait (one of so, so many) totally lacking in Trump.

  • Popular Post

I watched a couple of clips on the net and clearly at least some black Democrat organisations aren't very happy about this. Former VP Biden's apology didn't seem to appease them either. But this is a problem solely for that party to sort out. The danger is not loosing votes to another party, although that is a possibility, but having voters stay home on the day.

“You’ve got more questions?” Biden replied. “Well, I tell you what, if you have a problem figuring out whether you’re for me or Trump, then you ain’t black.”

Would have it been better if Biden would have said "...then you ain't American"?

Take it as you will...

Away with you and your falsely attributing comments to me that I never made.

Indeed.

That's one strength attribute I can do without!
