Those 4 Labour MP's, one a shadow Minister, broke the rules because it suited them too. How many other laws and rules do they consider themselves to be above? The admitted it - of course no apology or remorse because they believe themselves above all the plebs.

 

As elected public servants they must have a higher transparent code of behavior and adherence to the rules.

 

They should be judged by the electorate. Not in 5 years, but as soon as possible. Decency demands they resign. But as we see time and time again, decency and the Labour party in the same sentence is an oxymoron.

Surgeon initially backed her former medical officer staying in the job. Even though she broke the rules twice, never offered a good reason and also never self quarantined after traveling. Sturgeon definitely pushed her to resign once she weighed up all the public sentiments.

 

Boris would be well advised to sack him. He can't back track his support. Sturgeon back tracked behind the scenes. Too late for that, Boris needs to be seen to act. If he's got any sense, he'll use the lying about Barnard Castle once confirmed by the police.

The ONS death toll is now 47,300. Earlier on in the lockdown the death toll was not as high when the 4 Labour MPs broke the rules. The 2nd worst death toll in the world makes this breach by the PMs advisor pretty bad.

On the subject, what about Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick. One day hosting the press conference in Downing Street, a few days later appearing on Sky News via video from a property he owns in rural Hertfordshire:  despite the Nottinghamshire MP's website stating his family live 120 miles away in his constituency of Newark, as well as in London.

 

Then there's good ole Nige. Farage has been running around the South East coast in his attempts to prove France are sending thousands of migrants across the channel.

 

Why haven't you and others ever mentioned these two?

 

That others have also broken the regulations is no excuse for anyone, especially a man who played a major role in writing them, to do the same.

Some points Cummings didn't cover in his statement, or dodged when asked about.

 

On 31st March, Downing Street said Cummings and Wakefield were self isolating at their London home. Yet by then they were already in Durham. 

 

Downing Street had repeatedly denied he had taken his family to Barnard Castle. 

 

Downing Street had repeatedly denied his father had been spoken to by Durham police. 

 

Were these lies by Downing Street because they had taken it upon themselves to lie on Cummings' behalf, were these lies because Cummings had lied to them, or were they lying because someone high up (the press secretary, Oxley? Cummings? Johnson?) had told them to? 

 

He said one of the reasons for the trip was threats of violence toward him and his family and he feared for their safety in London if he was too ill to protect them. If he'd received such threats to him and his family, did he report these to the police? If not, why not? 

 

If he did report them, did the police offer any form of protection? If not, why not?

 

Why did he decide after 2 weeks away that these threats had disappeared and it was now safe to return to London with his family when, even if he had to return for work, he could have left his wife and son safely in Durham?

 

He now admits he drove his family to Barnard Castle. He says he drove that 60 mile round trip because he feared his eyesight may have made it unsafe for him to drive back to London. Any sane person who thought their eyesight may be so badly affected to make it unsafe to drive wouldn't drive 60 feet, let alone 60 miles!

 

Even if this is true and he was stupid enough to make this trip for such a bizarre reason, why did he expose his wife and 4 year old son to the high risk of a crash?

 

OK, maybe Wakefield went so she could take over the driving should he become unable to drive; but the boy? As the whole excuse for the trip in the first place was to keep him safe, why not leave him with his aunt and cousins?

 

Why did he have to have this 'test drive' anyway? Couldn't Wakefield have driven them back to London? Maybe she can't drive; in which case, why take her on the 'test drive' to Barnard Castle?

 

These are just some of the questions still to be answered.

In this YouGov poll 68% believe Cummings broke the rules.

 

In this one 52% think he should resign.

 

Both polls were conducted on Saturday, before his press conference yesterday. It will be very interesting to see how that performance will change opinions.

Not doing anything apart from arresting and processing, including a medical assessment, those caught at reception centres as before.

 

Oh, and putting them into quarantine for 14 days once that eventually starts. Though for them, as for those entering the UK legally, this measure, still to begin, is way too late.

Italy open to EU/UK citizens on 3rd June, Spain open on 1st July and now Germany looking to do the same, but the UK now having a 14 day quarantine when others are opening up, pointless.

MPs come and go, just sorts the wheat from the chaff.

Thinking back to the last election, how many MPs left their respective parties for attention and are now in the wilderness?

Occasionally snatching a quick spot on Piers Morgan’s breakfast show to make snide remarks about Boris & co. 

More will go and good riddance, they are surplus if they can’t focus on the bigger issues of the crisis we’re facing.

 Except for the Dublin Regulation, agreed to by the UK, which says that once in UK waters they are the UK's responsibility. 

 

BTW, if spurious allegations that the French are letting them go, or even helping them reach UK waters, were true there would be a hell of a lot more arriving every day!
