You know most of your audience here is never gonna get it most are just so used to always being told what they should do that they have forgotten how to think for themselves.

Well yes, I was told to get a Hepatitis jab if moving to Thailand, so I did, also a Rabies shot was mentioned, but I waived that one. It is good to listen to all possibilities to remain safe, eh...????.......................????

That’s exactly it and that’s something that I think a lot of Americans understand that others don’t. I wouldn’t say it made his life difficult but he stood up for himself.

What he did was "say".... "<deleted> you lot"......That is why the police took action....

If your afraid stay isolated until you feel its ok to venture outside. But if your not afraid use normal precautions thats it nothing fancy. For those who want to stay locked in what are your plans for the future if I may ask.

No we are not afraid just more cautious.  In fact this whole situation has been no real deal for us at all....we are normally stay at homers in any case.  We are quite fine with going out but have reduced our excursions such as only shopping once a week instead of the wife running to the market every day.  We have not stockpiled toilet paper (lol) or anything at all.  We plan more.  Most things can wait till next week.  If an emergency, such as a broken pipe the other day, I have no hesitation to go out.  I carry masks in the car and also have alcohol gel.  To us its really been no big deal at all.  It is just another habit.  In reality we only need to wear the masks for 5 or 10 minutes.  There is no need to wear one while driving, just the 5 or 10 minutes in the shop.  Back in the car we use the gel to wash our hands,  When I go to the ATM I have an old pen in the back of the pick-up for pressing buttons which is returned after use to sit in the roasting sun till needed again.  I get stuff delivered but dont open them for days and where possible they are left out in the sun.  Its just habit.  We have our own interests and hobbies and enjoy each others company.  Normally going out for us is for supplies or entertainment.  You can do without outside entertainment.  The internet can provide entertainment and socialising.  We spend more time together, eg every evening outside with a meal, a few drinks and good music.

I believe the big problem for many people in the current situation is they cant stand their own company.  They need the company of others.  They need attention or someone to take their minds off something.  I never get bored and I never get lonely.  The wife is the same.

I learnt a long time ago that if you are not content with your own company you cant truly be content with another.  Sure we like to socialise, we are all social beings but its not essential and there are other avenues...the telephone, video chats etc.  My wife talks to her parents next door daily over our boundary wall or friends who drop by but stay outside our gates.   I am socialising right now writing this.

We have too many things we want to do to get bored, even if within the confines of our property.   The days are too short.

The future?  Who knows.  But we really have no plans, just carry on like we are.  If things improve and get back to normal thats great.  If they get worse I feel our routines and new habits should keep us fairly safe.  As I say we havnt found the self isolation a big deal.  We have actually enjoyed it and our time alone....got a lot done I can tell you.  Wearing a mask for us is also no real hassle especially considering the minimal time we need to wear one.  Dont get me wrong I am not a sheep, in fact I am usually siding with conspiracy theories or protesting injustices, we wouldnt have conspiracy theories if there wasnt some element of truth in them and few governments have a good reputation if you know your history.  But this one I just dont know........either way precautions need to be taken and for us it really hasnt been any real effort but I can only speak for ourselves, everybodys situation is different, for some it has been traumatic.

I hope I have mentioned masks enough so this is not considered off topic and deleted (please).

finally someone!

the claimed death rate in thailand is about equal to the chance of winning the lottery jackpot...

in the sake of protecting ppl for their own good, probably cars and motorbikes shoudl be outlawed, killing daily more than the corona virus (supposedly, in thailand) has killed in 3 months span.

"Infectious aerosol particles can be released during breathing and speaking by asymptomatic people"

Is this the 50% of the 0.8% of people who have the virus?

Of which you have a one in 50 million chance you may run into?

And then a one 100 million chance you walk into their scary droplets?

Lol.

Why wear a mask 101

If picture does not do it for you read the science https://science.sciencemag.org/content/early/2020/05/27/science.abc6197

EZDgLHEXQAAN0tz.jpg

This illustration shows what happens when an individual has Covid, and how it is spread while wearing a mask, and while not wearing a mask.

The situation that doctors want to illustrate is what happens when someone does NOT have Covid, and walks about wearing a mask, touching this and that and everything, and then bringing his contaminated hands to his face to adjust his mask this way or that way. Those doctors claim, perhaps rightly that GO WASH YOUR HANDS is what people should hear over and over again...

Some doctors describe how health professionals use a personal protection gear PPG. Worn for a given event, such as an operation, or handling a sick patient, and then disposing of such a PPG.

I explained that to a Tesco manager this morning in Thai and she understood and agreed.

Same happened to me yesterday, at the Super Cheap store nearby.

Discussing about masks with a Thai man, age somewhere in his 40's.

Had a nice friendly and funny chat with this fellow.

Does not happen often..

Indeed, very good points. However the illustration is demonstrating how someone who does not know they have COVID spreading to others and the benefits of wearing a mask. The linked study explains in details.

The potential of contamination via touching objects is just as important and hygiene around that is equally important, washing your hands disposal or cleaning of potentially infected objects. This is however separate to the study that concentrates on mask wearing only.

Touching ones face is an unfortunate natural reaction and so this will happen when you have a mask on to.  If you notice from the illustration its also possible for the droplets to enter your eyes even if you're wearing a mask and this is with just talking or breathing, imagine if they coughed or sneezed!

Nothing is the perfect answer but it is about easy and cost effective ways to reduce risk that cause no hardship.

Wearing a mask prevents you touching your mouth and nose with those contaminated hands. You really seem to be talking bunkum to prove a falsehood....

the odds rapidly approach 0.0001% that that scenario would occur.

Quite a leap into the dark there..... 5,800,000 infections so far, and 357,000 dead, I bet they wished they had worn a mask, or more likely those around them had!

Since 0.8% of the population is infected and 43% of that infected contingent is asymptomatic that scenario applies to less than 0.4% of the population potentially.

Basing your figures from your beloved study from Iceland that you obviously find dear to your heart and transposing those into the population of which every country you see fit. ????

Sure thing, Canuck.

Never mind that there is very strong scientific evidence by now that massive mask wearing is very effective in reducing the spread of the deadly virus.

even W H O does NOT know if wearing mask helps.....!!
