Same thing happened in the uk a few years ago. Violent thug killed by cop on botched arrest.

Addressing 'hate' within any society is a long term effort and extremely challenging to achieve. Sadly social discord and 'hate' created is the ownership of both extreme left and right of society. Unfortunately in the US there is currently a President who is to the right of centre usually encouraging 'hate' of any who disagree with him rather than seeking means to peacefully settle political disagreements. Intervention by force does not eradicate 'hate', just kicks the can along the road. Professional unbiased law enforcement of course assist with suppressing criminal activity, not political disputes, though as proven in recent days, empathy by law enforcement officers does reduce tensions. it's a great shame trump doesn't seem to comprehend the power of empathy.
