Health Ministry suggests New Normal ways to visit beaches during pandemic

BANGKOK (NNT) - The Ministry of Public Health is urging the general public visiting beaches and natural tourism attractions not to let their guard down, to prevent the spread of COVID-19, such as mask wearing, frequent hands washing and social distancing.

The Department of Health Director General Panpimol Wipulakorn has announced measures at beaches to prevent the spread of COVID-19, which are primarily hygiene measures, mask wearing and social distancing.

Visitors to beaches may stay close to their group, but should maintain distance from other visitors. They are encouraged to carry alcohol gel or find a hand washing location, as well as bringing a small bag to carry their garbage away with them disposal at designated areas.

These measures were announced after crowding at some beaches after Phase 3 of restriction relaxation was implemented on 1st June.

The Department of Health is working with related agencies and vendors to draft public health guidelines for tourist attractions and beaches, serving as a manual for local administrations and authorized agencies.

With the new guidelines, beaches must impose a limit on the maximum number of visitors, to prevent crowding, ensure distance between different activity areas, such as beach chair areas and beach towel areas, enforce social distancing measures, to ensure visitors who are not together stay 1-2 meters apart, and limit the number of visitors swimming or engaging in riding banana boats, boating or floating on rubber rings.

Service staff and visitors must wear a face mask at all times on the beach, wash their hands frequently, refrain from shouting, maintain 1-2 meters distance between one another on the beach and in the water. Vulnerable people, such as elders and patients with respiratory diseases, should refrain from visiting during a busy period and limit the length of their visit.

Anyone feeling ill, with a fever, a cough, sneeze, runny nose, or breathing difficulties should not visit a tourist attraction and see a doctor.

Yes, that'd be difficult. I thought it was the normal way the neighbours spoke to each other.

No! Just no. Im not accepting their version of reality. They have proven again and again not to be trustworthy. Latest research determines you are 19 times less likely to get infected outdoors than indoors.

This country is drained of intelligent life. Open the borders.

But  pls  all share the same   utensils when eating out of a shared  bowl and shared  water cup, don't  forget to leave all  your trash after you've  fed the local strays as this is the normal Thai way. Everyone knows dogs  only  like their food  in a plastic  bag.

You insult your hosts and in the same breath demand to be let back in the country.

Bizarre behaviour.

Well, unless you are a member of the Anutin entourage then don't worry about any of the above.

"The rules are for thee and not for me," is the message from the leaders and elites who issue the pronouncements that they themselves do not follow.

Have done two walks on Jomtien beach last 2 days. It simply isn't happening. No difference in behavior in January.

The stickler is that there is no, zero, nada, enforcement by BIB.

Agreed ! The Compulsory Abnormal would be a more appropriate term. Together with Enforced Distancing.

As for vaccines. Well, No way José.

the main problem is that there is no pandemic in thailand

what numbers are they looking at and basing government policy and measures?

are they making decisions based on what is happening in other countries?

Nice pic of a "New Normal" beach ! When is the penny going to drop ? If a tree falls in the forest and nobody hears it, did it make a sound ? The pathetically obvious question here is....If a "pandemic" swept through town and nobody suffered from it, did it actually sweep through town ? or even exist before the media invented it ?

Take a cardboard cut out of Anutin along with you , and you can do whatever you Bloody well want

Since we don't have access to the public health data relevant to these questions, another possibility is that they are making decisions based on awareness of a worrying amount of infections but ones that aren't being included in the official confirmed reports. We don't know. However, more infections than are being reported would be consistent with what's happening in most other places on the planet (not China).

Today there are 130 cases in China, 234 more in quarantine and 1776 PUI.

Your point is?

I was talking about Thailand, not China.

Point is that without the supportive data to clarify things, there are other possible conclusions one could make when speculating about policy decisions.

Im not the most intelligent person in the world but are these people running the country? Im stuck for words

Look at the other countries in SE Asia. The effect of the virus is minimal. It’s basically over. Probably the population have cross immunity from other types of coronavirus that have been circulating.

Please refrain from spitting on the beach.

Screaming instructions at your family members are strictly prohibited.

All Europeans wearing speedos will be immediately removed from the kingdom and banned for life.

I bet he's never even been on a beach in his life...LOL
