Departed Thailand Sunday the 7th June,. Waited at airports immigration as they took my passport off me and asked me to sit in the overstays lounge,, thought a fine was occurring,.instead waited 15min and allowed to leave without fine ! Temp taken several times as expected and social distancing displayed around the airport,. which is understandable in today’s climate,. Thought the flight would be social distancing as that’s what I’ve been use to whilst being in Thailand the last 3.5 months ( paid 21,000 baht economy class ) instead it was like a cattle market without any social distancing as every single seat was full “. Complained and didn’t want to take a seat - stewardess called some fella and said a new memo was issued ! Was told if wanted to upgrade would cost me 400 dollars refused as already paid for return flight ! Didn’t work out and then Rebooked 21,000 flying back to the u.k it’s this type of negligence that increases your chances of catching the virus .... when eating people’s arms touching you and people walking around without masks is clearly wrong. Will be contacting the airline with my concerns ! Screening wasn’t that intensive either Heathrow staff looked short with more police in attendance than customs officials 

I'm not  getting on any plane  until this  nonsense is  over. Air  France can keep their Business  Class  ticket I  booked back on January and paid for and shove it right up their Khyber  Pass.

Not been the best weekend for you has it!  First KFC then EVA.  Never mind, with any luck the pubs will be open soon.

The airline sets the 'social distancing' rules, many do not think it necessary due to the deep cleansing of their aircraft. Take a chill pill, you are still alive <deleted>.

You should have booked business class.

 

The chairs are not only larger but also more spread out and many less to each row depending on the plane type of course.

Yes but the OP was expecting business class room (because of social distancing) in economy class. He did not want to pay for it and did not realize that if they did have social distancing people would have to pay more for a seat. 

Crowded flights are in the immediate future. If a person has to fly, they may want to invest in the best mask possible.

I left Thailand on the 28th March. Just as Thailand was closing. Flying to Vienna. I had to wait at Thai check in for 2 evenings before I finally got a flight out. 34,000Bht 1 way to Paris. Which was one of the biggest rip offs I have ever endured.

As you stated, the flight was rammed to the rafters.. Not a seat free..

Now I understand airlines are supposed to follow social distancing. However, I know all through this crisis, that hasn't been the case. I find it quite disgusting that our health is put before profit. Of which in the west is an offence for a business.

You are being naive. What do you expect, airlines are not charities, they are commercial enterprises.  If you don't like it, don't fly.  Nobody is forcing you onto an aircraft at gun point.   

Don't EVA fumigate the aircraft before take-off? Cabin crew walk through with aerosol cans. Doesn't stop direct contact but...

 

They did in February when I flew to UK. Can't remember on the return?

 

If one wants social distancing then be prepared to pay for half the vacant seat next to you.

You chose to fly at this time, you chose what class you wanted to book, and you rejected the opportunity to upgrade if you were that concerned about the virus distancing. 

 

Don't expect someone else to shoulder the cost for your penny pinching.

A mate who is a leisure globe trotter just reported exactly the same , not a single seat empty.

 

OP were duty free open? What food and drinks on board , heard just snacks ?

Strike 3 was switching the freezer off before leaving the u.k ???????????? kitchen stunk upon return here’s hoping life improves over the next few weeks ???? thanks for the observation ????

Duty free open although 90% shops closed in airport and 2 meals served on board

economy class “ was the only available ticket,.not about the money as have terminal Ill family member.. Just wanted to return,. Was only offered upgrade when on the flight - previously paid for a flight and got cancelled - still waiting for the 30,000 baht refund

AirAsia new rules, passengers must wear masks at check-in, all the time on board, at luggage recovery.

Only blame the airline ... previously had flight cancelled awaiting return of funds and at time booking was the only available flight !  Still thought as some previous returnees stated seat person blah blah only told of update on plane ... suppose som na na me ???????????? at least arrived - not the money it’s about safety and social distancing

Flew from ubon with Thai smile and as you say social distancing in airports and aboard the airline itself excellent service..... felt safe and will use again

Actually I didn't mention Thai Smile and truth be known I would rather walk than patronize any transport associated with Thai.

No they don't, the spray is purely for small flying bugs like mosquitoes.  It does not protect against bacteria's and viruses. In the last few months, all Eva aircraft have undergone deep cleaning and disinfecting.  No guarantee of safety of course, but it does no harm.

I agree with what you are saying. But there was a general agreement with IATA that all flights would follow social distancing rules. That was a statement agreed by carriers around the world.

We have ALL read about flights and social distancing, so we expect it. The cost of the ticket has sod all to do with it, you pay what they ask for....????

That's not good at all. I don't plan to fly until this thing is nipped in the bud. Way too dangerous.

 

Airplanes are already germ petri dishes.

I'll fly anywhere as soon as I know I can get back - although I suspect not all airlines would be as clean as LH.
