The effects the virus had on the environment was benficial for the world and consequently for the quality of life for the people .

It kind of showed us what needs to be done NOW ... but wil it be done ?

Only if the one's that are damaging the earth for profit are stopped dead. It's a question. Who is more important? The population of earth or a few ultra rich and their connections that are doing things the way they want, and are being helped by crooked politicians, bankers and officials.

So if climate change causes human extinction, will the aliens still come? Kind of just changes the way civilization ends. Comet still coming too but is no longer considered dangerous.

But, but, but, haven't  we been told by the deniers that we're going into a new ice age?  Just maybe the scientists know a bit of what they speak of.

An ice age will eventually be the consequence of global warming, at least in Europe once the golf stream shuts off due to global warming.

Humans are an infestation on the planet just like termites. The sooner we become extinct the better off the Earth will be.

Unfortunately true, a-shame isn’t, our industry is the driver, guess we’re just to smart for our own good.

It is a vicious circle that has been started by man made global warming .

This time it is not like the periods of warming the earth has gone through in it's evolution .

The scientists say that , even all toxic emissions caused by the burning of fossil fuels would stop now , the planet would still continue to warm up even faster , and that for at least 40 more years ...

There is nothing that can be done anymore to reverse the effects of climate change ...

Well, at least this paints a clear picture of the future ...

if you add this virus and possibly more to come to this picture , it is Dystopia knocking on the door .

Mankind has a strong ability to adapt , but this time it will need to adapt to an hostile environment in which it will not be possible to produce enough food for all .

Same time the human population is still growing ... a perfect scenario for disaster .

One of the problems is that humans do not now have 'natural' enemies. Of course, C-19 comes along and there are wars, but there is not that fear that animals have had down the ages, that venturing out could mean death.

We, as a species, have a couple of challenges that ARE within our capability to influence; unlike global warming. One is looking after soil. Looking after insects. Stop the poisoning of vegetation. The list goes on, but we can control matters. First step is to change the world banking system.

Since global warming is a human caused thing I'm not sure what you mean by humans not having the capability to influence it. Anyway, the good news is that thanks to developments in the field of renewable energy and energy storage,  the fossil fuel age is coming to a close much faster than just about anyone expected.

No Deniers just Facts.  :wai:

The arrival of intense cold similar to the weather that raged during the "Little Ice Age", which froze the world during the 17th century and in the beginning of the 18th century, is expected in the years 2030 to 2040. These conclusions were presented by Prof. V. Zharkova (Northumbria University) during the National Astronomy Meeting in Llandudno in Wales by an international group of scientists, which also includes Dr. Helen Popova of the Skobeltsyn Institute of Nuclear Physics and of the Faculty of Physics of the Lomonosov Moscow State University, professor Simon Shepherd of Bradford University (UK) and Dr Sergei Zharkov of Hull University (UK).

You sure you want to go with Prf. V. Zharkova and her "facts"?

Paper that claimed the Sun caused global warming gets retracted

A paper published last June was catnip for those who are desperate to explain climate change with anything but human-caused greenhouse gas emissions. It was also apparently wrong enough to be retracted this week by the journal that published it, even though its authors objected...

The lead author of the paper was Valentina Zharkova, a mathematician and astrophysicist at Northumbria University who has a bit of a track record. If you’ve ever read one of the dozens (hundreds?) of UK tabloid stories declaring that we're about to start an impending “mini ice age” driven by a declining solar cycle, it was probably supported by a quote from Professor Zharkova

So peat equaling all the world's forests is on fire and can't be extinguished. Most of the world neither knows nor cares about this. But should I light my pipe 100 metres from anyone their is general panic and screams of doomsday. Where's my matches?

When they start building the beach resorts?

The problem might be that the weather changes from moderate to extreme. That means when it rains it rains too much, but dry periods are hotter and longer. You have extreme coldness followed by extreme heat.

UK, Ireland, Scandinavia as well as Western and Central Europe will loose their moderate climate once the Gulf stream stops, which will happen as soon as enough arctic ice is melted away. This will have a huge impact not only on the people, but also on the agriculture.

I wish that the deniers would be right this time, but unfortunately they are not.

Yours just doesn't feature a God or gods. By the way, did you actually look at the page you linked to? It did quite a thorough job discrediting that petition supposedly signed by 31,000 scientists.

Earth has warmed before and chilled before due to all kinds of factors. Just because it has warmed before without human causation, is no reason to assert that it's the same this time.

I get your message. I still have hope our better natures will prevail.
I’m hoping for that old saying,
