This Friday the 27th of April, and every last Friday of the month for the next year, The Blue Bar Gallery on the Ban Tai Road outside Thong Sala will host a fundraising dinner for Phangan Animal Care. 100% of the profits to go to PAC. They are losing their lease next year (the school wants their houses back) and need to raise funds to find a new place to live. Hopefully, Steve's generous efforts will go far toward this end.

This month, there will be roast pork sandwiches and a glass of wine for 200 baht. Starts around 7-7:30 pm.

Please show your support for PAC by attending this event, thanks!

And many thanks to Admin for giving the go ahead for this post :o

He doesn't have the full menu yet, are you planning on going? If so, I'll be sure to post the full menu once its finalized. And where do you want the money to go? Someone's stomach or PAC? 200 baht isn't much to ask for a good cause. Sheesh.

Make it a pot luck party. everyone brings some nice food to share and donates Baht 100 to PAC.

Real Dinner and same profits for PAC. :o

Fantastic! Perhaps you could alert November Rain to the fact that she can post similar threads to support her dog rescue. I already asked a mod if I could open a thread to ask for suggestions for generating revenues for her charity -- not for direct donations -- and got no reply. NR really needs help now too. I hope y'all can support her.

any requests of this kind need to be agreed by admin, which is what sbk did. So if anyone wants to do a similar thing suggest they contact admin direct rather than a mod as we cannot make descisions of these kind.

Thanks for starting the thread sbk.

I am acting on instructions from our two cats and their surrogate mother on this.

Not sure what might come of it so perhaps being overwhelmed rather than under. Having some bbq pork on a spit and salads and stuff along with a glass of wine or a beer or soft drink, maybe a raffle or such (prizes would be useful). My aim is to see if we can raise as much PAC as is possible and perhaps if this works, do it on a regular, last Friday in the month basis.

I am kicking in the staff and premises and will provide everything else at cost. I just need everyone who make use of PAC or are friends of PAC to kick in a few baht and their time out for an evening of fun and frivolity. We had occasion to use PAC in the last weeks and paid a pittance in fees, I reckon about one tenth of what I would pay back in Aus. so this is payback. I have invited the girls from PAC to come and monitor the fund side of things.

Someone had a go at me and suggested that there are better causes I should be working for. Probably there are but we have spent 6 years in the field in third world countries and war zones doing just that, building schools and clinics and houses so this suits us quite nicely for now. For now they can do the other good things in case anyone feels compelled to offer the same suggestions.

Admirable work there Etherus, I hope people come out and support PAC generously they deserve it, and if we lose their services it would be a great loss to the island and a move in the wrong direction.

Maybe you could help others out in need too with such fund raising events?

Wont make it on friday as we will be working but I'll make sure Mrs Moon stops by and pledges on our behalf.

Say what?

You want us to help our only animal-care centre on KPG by eating cute little piglets? Sheeeezzz... :o

C'mon Etherus, make it a glass of wine and some of those delicious tuna/corn/mayo sandwiches you had last time at the Blue Bar opening, and you'll have two more happy campers coming over this Friday.

Ok, i will see what I can do. Dinner is possibly an overstatement.

I'd dispute that - the buffet on offer was more than ample and really delicious.

All in all a great night, with 30-40 good samaritans braving impending rain to help a good cause. Looking forward to seeing some of the night's pics here!

And hoping to see all again at the Blue Bar in KPG for a great night next month.

Thanks Etherious :o

Hi Jose, just talked to my husband who went a bit late (due to the rain) but also stayed late, from the sounds of it :o He agreed, about 30-40 people and thought about 10,000 baht might have been raised.

He told me had a really good time, enjoyed getting out and meeting new people. Wish I could have made the inaugural charity night but will be there for the July one for sure. Koh Phanganers please be sure to spread the word, this will be a monthly event.

great news & well done to all who attended for the support.

I have pinned this so that it can be updated nearer to next date every month :o

Thanks to those that could make it. We made 11,415 baht from the night so well appreciated by PAC. Special thanks to those businesses that contributed prizes.

For those with an interest I have posted more details on my website, www.bluebargallery.com. I also have some pics however my other computer has decided to play up over the weekend. Will add them as soon as possible.

When is your next benefit buffet coming up? Soon, I believe. Good luck, I hope it doesn't rain this time!

I'll miss this one too :o
