(Reuters) - The World Health Organization reported a record increase in global coronavirus cases on Sunday, with the total rising by 230,370 in 24 hours.

The biggest increases were from the United States, Brazil, India and South Africa, according to a daily report. The previous WHO record for new cases was 228,102 on July 10. Deaths remained steady at about 5,000 a day.

Global coronavirus cases were approaching 13 million on Sunday, according to a Reuters tally, marking another milestone in the spread of the disease that has killed more than 565,000 people in seven months.

It seems logical that an increase in established testing procedures would result in an increase of reported infections (people are now being routinely tested when they are admitted as in-patients to Hospitals in Florida as an example. Whether they are admitted for elective surgery, show any signs of viral infection or not).

Unsurprisingly conspicuous in it's absence from main stream media reports (who seemingly want to continue milking this story for all it's worth); is the reported mortality rate, which by all accounts has plummeted to around 0.26%, do facts matter any more..?

2020-07-13 New estimate by CDC reduces COVID-19 death rate to just 0 26% (IFR) from WHO’s 3 4% (CFR).png

The death/mortality rate is more than .26%

eg In UK, 45,000 death, 280,000 positive. About 15%. (High because many in old care homes and most people overweight)

USA and Brazil have big population. Look like Belgium the worse one, then UK, other Europe then North and South America.

Belgium double death rate USA.

Also UK, Sweden, Spain and Netherlands not show active cases.

Why not?7E5EDAB1-9E03-4FB7-8CE4-DC7157B59F8D.thumb.jpeg.10da18a250be29c9176716baaf253bfd.jpeg

Your chart is from 22nd May correct?

MIAMI — The rate of daily coronavirus deaths reported by the state of Florida has begun to tick up again for the first time since May, a trend that was apparent even before Thursday’s announcement of a record 120 COVID deaths, following weeks of rising hospitalizations.

All charts now confirm a rising death trendline

Removed comment as did not refer to the OP,  "communicable" diseases.

The current pandemic concerning Coronavirus is the topic.

Thank you for pointing this out J Town.

And 15,000 children under 5 years old died daily worldwide in 2015, that was 5 million deaths that year. 6.2 million in 2018 (WHO trying to help and educate and it is getting worse) .

18 million deaths from Cancer per year, 20 million deaths from Heart disease.  WHO cannot cure most causes of death, but think the virus is avoidable or we can all avoid it by staying home until there is a vaccine.

WHO is trying to save people from this virus, yet have failed in so many other areas that the numbers from this virus (<600,000) seem insignificant to many.  https://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/children-reducing-mortality

150k human beings die every single day too.

The USA stupid

1) “open” everything before control it. Only think about money. Greed.

2) fight about statues, lefty vs far right etc. idiots

3) only start to wear mask now. Still many refuse.

USA cannot be controlled like other countries.  Herd immunity should have been allowed from the start IMO.  Though "cases" are growing, death rates are NOT.  so in reality they are practicing herd immunity in many areas of the USA and will likely not need the vaccine when it becomes available.

It is not only the mortality rate ... people who were cured of the virus and left hospital may suffer severe side effects such as permanent lung , liver and kidney damage , and even brain damage ...

The operative word is "may". What, one wonders is the scale and and prevalence of these alleged side effects? Also, it is know that other viral infections, such as flu and mumps can lead to long-lasting nd serious complications.

For every 1 death, 19 more require hospitalization; 18 of those will have some permanent heart damage for the rest of their lives; 10 will have permanent lung damage; 3 will have strokes; 2 will have neurological damage leading to chronic weakness and loss of coordination. Stay at home, wear a mask if you have to go out, observe social distancing and wash your hands.

Thanks for that. Do you have a source?
