Japanese woman's murder: DNA evidence suggests a Thai was not to blame

Sanook reported on the latest developments in the cold case of Tomoko Kawashita who was found murdered in the Sukhothai Historical Park in 2007.

 

Justice minister Somask Thepsuthin said that DNA from the victim's trousers was compared to 379 Thais without a match. 

 

Furthermore a new chromosome heredity technique has confirmed that the person responsible was from one of seven Asian nations - and Thailand was not one of them. 

 

The Department of Special Investigations pointed the finger strongly at a Japanese man who was close to the victim and who left a day after she was murdered. 

 

The Nation reported in November that that person was unnamed but had since died. 

 

Sanook made no mention of this in their round-up of the latest developments that said Thais were now cleared of the murder. 

 

Tomoyuki Fujiyama of the Japanese police thanked Thailand for their efforts to solve the case.

There are companies that offer to analyse your DNA and will confirm where your ancestors most likely originated from.

 

No idea of cost, but I see regular adverts for it.

Since certain genetic variations are typical in certain areas, geneticists can use an individual’s DNA to estimate where their ancestors came from. But when this technique is used to look at someone’s nationality rather than the origin of their distant ancestors, critics say it’s no longer viable.

So it could be one of a  Foreigners Family that has been living in Thailand for Generations as PR .Like the Chinese Thais or anything else? They are Thais now .
